- Hispanic Heritage Fact of the Day- Add a little color to your conversation with funny Spanish phrases and idioms! When you can use a well-known phrase like these, you sound much more natural in your everyday speech.
- Ponte las pilas â Literal translation: âPut in your batteriesâ but itâs like telling someone to âlook aliveâ, âsnap out of itâ, or âwake upâ. You say it to a person whoâs daydreaming.
- Buena onda â Literal translation: âGood waveâ but This means good vibes. You can also use it to describe someone who has a positive outlook and attitude.
- Hablando del rey de Roma â Literal translation: âSpeaking of the king of Romeâ. It has the same meaning as âspeak of the devilâ in English. You say this whenever you were just talking about someone, and then they appear.
