* Today will be school picture day during PE classes.

*Tomorrow LOT will be on a field trip to American Village.

*Volleyball will have a home game against Thorsby tomorrow at 5pm.

* Friday will be LEAD and we will be on Activity Schedule.

*The Lady Dawgs defeated Isabella in 2 straight games last night at MHS.  Allie Tryon led all servers with 100% 6 for 6, while Dani Blake contributed 5 for 5.  Teasia Purnell added 4 for 5 service points.

In the second game, Allie Tryon scored 5 of her 6 KILLS for the night and served 9 out of 10.  Dani Blake remained a 100% from the service line with 4 out of 4 in this game winning 25-20. Way to go Lady Dawgs!!!

The team plays again this Thursday with 7th graders playing at 5 and 8th graders playing at 6.  Come watch some volleyball!!!

*Cross Country practice is cancelled for this afternoon. Runners need to run 30 minutes on their own.  Practice will resume tomorrow after school.

* Today Volleyball will play at Montevallo High School against Isabella at 4pm.

*Football will play today in West Blocton at 6pm.

* Tomorrow will be school picture day during PE classes.

*The Lady Dawgs pounced on the Panthers Monday in a 2 game sweep.  MMS won the first game 25-12 and Dani Blake led all servers with 8 out of 9 and Leslie Langley also contributed 6 out of 6 with one of those being an ACE.  Dani also scored a huge KILL which helped put away the VICTORY.

Most of the seventh graders started the second game and still won easily 25-19.  Allie Tryon led servers in this game with 7 out of 8.  Emily Dutton and Teasia Purnell contributed 3 out of 4.

The Volleyball team will play again on Tuesday at MHS at 4pm followed by the JV and Varsity.  The team will play it’s next HOME game at MMS on Thursday against Thorsby at 5.  Come support the Lady Dawgs!!

*Today Volleyball will play in Jemison at 5pm.  Tomorrow Volleyball will play at Montevallo High School against Isabella at 6pm.

*Please congratulate the cross country team on an excellent finish in Saturday’s meet.  Every runner turned in his or her best performance yet!

*Congratulations to the student of the week: Javier Gilmore. He was nominated by Mrs. Lewis.  Mrs. Lewis states that Javier demonstrated the character trait of responsibility when he not only cleaned up his own trash at breakfast, but he cleaned up the trash left by the other students at the table.

*MHS Homecoming is tonight. The game begins at7:00pm.  Pre-game activities, including the band performing their half time show, will begin at 6:15pm.

*The Cross Country team will have its first meet on Saturday, September 16th, at Veteran’s Park.

*School picture day will be on Wednesday, September 20th, during PE classes.

*Volleyball will have an away game Monday night at Jemison at 5pmTuesday night

is a home game at 4 pm against Isabella.  This game will be played at MHS and not MMS.

*The flu vaccine forms that your child brought home with progress reports are due back on Thursday, Oct 5th .  The flu vaccine will be given on October 20thduring school.

*Upcoming Events :

*The first MMS dance will be on Thursday, October 5th, from 3-5pm.  The cost is $5.00 to attend and students must have a parent pick them up at 5pm.

*There will be no school for students on Friday, October 6th or Monday, October 9th.

*The MMS Homecoming game will be played on Thursday, October 12th, at 5:30pm.

*Report Cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 12th.

*MMS is collecting box tops.  For every 10 box tops that your child brings in, he or she will receive two tardy to class passes.

* Today progress reports will go home.  You will get your progress report and last year’s Aspire scores from your 4th period teacher.

*Mrs. Lusco’s BackPack buddies will meet at the end of 6th period today in the conference room.

*Starting on Monday, MMS will have a fundraiser selling recipe flip books.  You will receive an order form from your teacher next week. The cost is $8.00 for each recipe book.

*You received a copy of the COTS sign up sheet from your 4th period teacher.  Please fill it out and return it to your 4th period teacher by today.  If you do not return a COTS sheet, Mrs. Lusco will assign your COT for you.

Congratulations to the 8th grade lady dawgs for clobbering Columbiana last night in 2 straight games 25 – 18. Allie Tryon led all servers with 15 out of 17 serves and 11 of those were in a row to clinch the first victory.  Alyssa Craig also scored a kill and served 1 for 1 from the line.  It was a total team victory for Montevallo.  Way to go girls.  The next home game will be Tuesday at 5 vs. West Blocton.  Come support the Lady Dawgs!!

The 7th grade team fought hard and won the first game 28-26 but fell short in a 25-19 score for second game and ultimately lost a nail biting match in a 17-15 tie-breaker game.

Week of September 7, 2017

*Tonight is the first home football game against Clanton beginning at 5:30pm.  Come on out and support your Bulldogs!

*Tonight there will be a volleyball game in Columbiana at 5 and 6 pm.

*Progress reports and last year’s Aspire Test Scores will go home with your child tomorrow.  If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s grades, please contact the teacher.  If you have questions or concerns about your child’s test scores, please contact Mrs. Lusco.

*Tuesday night there is a home volleyball game at 5 and 6 pm. Come on out and support the team.  We have a new concession stand for volleyball and basketball games.

*The LOT and Peer Helpers will be attending a Leadership Conference on Thursday of next week.  If your child is a member of those organizations, please make sure that they return their permission slips.

*The Cross Country team will have its first meet on Saturday, September 16th, at Veteran’s Park.

*Beginning on Monday, your child will bring home fundraising forms. MMS will be selling Recipe Flip Cards for $8.00.

*School picture Day will be on Wednesday, September 20th, during PE classes.
