7th Grade Washington DC Students:  DC Meeting will be Tuesday, February 4th at 6:00pm in the OMMS Cafeteria. 8th Grade Students–be SURE to turn in your high school course selection form to your World History Class tomorrow for the High School Counselors. It MUST be signed by a parent or guardian! High School Counselors will be here to collect the forms and answer any questions you may have about your 9th grade classes.

The FINAL What Do You Need Wednesday sale will take place tomorrow during lunch.  So bring your money and stock up on any supplies you might need for the remainder of the year.  Items range from $1 to $5.

Book Olympiad resumes practice this week every Tues/Thurs. 3-4 p.m. in C4. Pick up at door #4 under bus canopy.   

Debate team will meet outside Mrs. Gunnels room A-21 at 2:30 today.  Mrs. Bolt will meet you at Samford.

Science club is cancelled for today.

Mardi Gras Gala – Academic Partners is excited to host the Mardi Gras Gala on Friday, 2/7 from 7-10 pm.  Admission tickets and fun tickets will be for sale at school on 2/5, 2/6, and 2/7 during lunch as well as at the event.  Admission tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.  Fun Tickets (these will be used for all activities and food) are $1 each.  FOOD and ACTIVITIES:  Chick-Fil-A nuggets 3 tickets, Pepperoni or Cheese Pizza 2 tickets, Crazy Bread 3 tickets, Krispy Kreme donuts 2 tickets, Cake Walk 1 ticket, Selfie Station 1 ticket, and the concession stand will be open with 1-3 tickets for various beverages and candy.  Dressy attire, no jeans or shorts.We are in need of volunteers to make the event a success!   If you have any questions, please contact Sandy Junkin at ommsacademicpartners@gmail.com.  Please signup and help us make this event a success. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C49AFAC2BA0FD0-mardi

OMMS PTO is looking for businesses to sponsor our school!  For $250, your company logo will be featured on the OMMS Life Facebook page (which has over 900 followers!) all year long and your company information will be distributed in a school-wide list serve email.  Our partnership allows for extremely targeted advertising to almost 1,100 students and their families!  Please turn in the attached form and your donation to the front office to show your support of OMMS students and teachers!

Registration for the Oak Mountain High School Color Run is now open at www.oakmountaincolorrun.com. The date is March 7 at Oak Mountain State Park. All proceeds will benefit the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Help us pass the $100,000 mark raised by supporting and signing up this year!

EAGLES SPORTS NEWS

Good luck to our 7th grade girls’ basketball team as they begin Metro today vs. @ Homewood beginning at 4:30pm.  Good luck to our 8th grade girls’ basketball team as they continue Metro play against Mt. Brook @ Homewood beginning at 6pm.

Good luck to our boys basketball teams as they begin Metro today.  7th grade will play Pizitz at Pizitz beginning at 5:15 and 8th grade will play Pizitz beginning at Hewitt at 6:30 p.m.

Anyone who wants to try out for the OMMS Track and Field team needs to see Coach Dillard in the gym to sign up. Try-outs are February 5th-6th, 2020.

As many of you know this is the 20th anniversary of the opening of OMHS.  The Athletic Booster Club has established our first ever Athletic Hall Of Fame to recognize outstanding teams and individuals throughout the twenty year history of OMHS.   A banquet will be held in their honor on February 1 at 6:00 p.m. at OLV.  Tickets may be purchased at https://gofan.co/app/events/78540  All proceeds go to Oak Mountain athletics.  
The Booster Club has organized several activities around HOF weekend.

Friday evening (1/31) is senior night for both our boys and girls basketball teams.  Seniors will be recognized between the 2 varsity games.  At halftime of the boys’ game, we will introduce all of the HoF inductees.  

(2)    Saturday morning (2/1) at 10:00 am, baseball, softball & soccer programs will each be hosting alumni games with intrasquad scrimmages to follow.  The softball/baseball concession stand will be in full swing to serve lunch to all attendees.  We expect 300+ and will have local media coverage at the events.   

(3)    Saturday evening at 6:00 the HOF Celebration at OLV will put the perfect wrap on the weekend.  We will have dinner, dancing, both a silent and floor auction and the induction ceremony.    


Inductees to be honored are as follows: David Dahl-Colorado Rockies; Toni Payne-Sevilla FC; Chandler Hoffman- Birmingham Legion FC; Clark Powell; Donald McMahon; 2001 Women’s Softball State Championship Team; 2005  Men’s Soccer State Championship Team


This an adult only event so get a babysitter and come support our first annual HOF.
