March 5 Announcements
In an effort to keep our students healthy and our school free from germs, we are in need of hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, disinfectant wipes, as well as, facial tissues. These items may be dropped off at the front office. We appreciate your help and all of the supplies that have been received.
OMMS Media Center March Madness brackets and voting are due Friday at 3pm! Make sure to turn in bracket in assignment on Google Classroom to be entered into the competition!
6th and 7th grade girls interested in trying out for the OMMS volleyball teams for 2020 should sign up with Coach Gunnels (A-21) or Coach Brown (C-10). Tryouts are April 6-9. All requirements must be met on DragonFly and all paperwork turned in by Friday, April 3 – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. All information is on the volleyball blog.
Book Olympiad practices today from 3-4 p.m. Pick up at door #4.
If you are a student that plays a sport at OMHS, please send a picture to Mrs. Thomas at v3thomas@shelbyed.org of your OMMS group, including names of all students pictured from left to right or set up a time BEFORE Friday 3/6 with Mrs. Thomas to take a picture during advisory.
Free Winter guard clinic for anyone who wants to try out for middle school or high school guard on March 7th at OMHS from 9:30am-12:00 pm.
Debate team will practice after school today in Mrs. Bolt’s room A-16.
Girl Talk will meet during lunch in B-1. The next meeting after school meeting will be March 12 until 4:30 in B-1.

OMMS PTO is looking for businesses to sponsor our school! For $250, your company logo will be featured on the OMMS Life Facebook page (which has over 900 followers!) all year long and your company information will be distributed in a school-wide list serve email. Our partnership allows for extremely targeted advertising to almost 1,100 students and their families! Please turn in the attached form and your donation to the front office to show your support of OMMS students and teachers!
Registration for the Oak Mountain High School Color Run is now open at www.oakmountaincolorrun.com. The date is March 7 at Oak Mountain State Park. All proceeds will benefit the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Help us pass the $100,000 mark raised by supporting and signing up this year!
PowerUP: It’s a Mother-Daughter Thing is next Tuesday, March 10th! This event invites 6th-12th grade girls and their parent or guardian to learn about careers in construction. If you haven’t signed up already, now is your chance! This year will be the 5th anniversary of the event and we have 30 vendors and higher education/training providers signed up to exhibit! We also have some very special guests lined up to speak on the panel. The event will take place at the Alabama Workforce Training Center (3500 6th Ave. S. Birmingham, AL 35222) from 5:30-8:30pm next Tuesday, March 10th. Dinner and refreshments will be provided! Interested in attending this event? Students interested in signing up for football should go to the OMMS Football website, https://podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/omms-football/ to sign-up and register by March 18, 2020. Parent meeting will be Thursday, March 19th at 6pm in the cafeteria.

8th grade girls – OMHS volleyball tryouts for Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams are April 20-24 from 3:30-5:30 in the OMHS main gym. You will need to be dropped off and picked up from OMHS. Please fill out the Google Form on the OMMS Volleyball blog indicating your intent to try out. You must also have an updated physical uploaded to OMHS DragonFly. The code to join OMHS DragonFly is TGTNMC.
