February 25th Announcements

Students that ride bus 22-09 will ride bus 09-63 today at bus dismissal.

All girls trying out for cheerleading are reminded that the tryout fee of $40 is due today.  All paperwork and DragonFly requirements are due Friday, Mar. 4th. Candidates that have not paid or have incomplete paperwork will not be eligible for tryouts.

Students are required to have YOUR school-issued Chromebook AND charger with you in Advisory today.  Make sure both are in your possession today. 

Students that attended the OMHS varsity basketball game today will be excused as long as a parent note is turned in within the 3 days of the absence.  The note MUST be turned in to the school by today (2/25) stating that you gave your student permission to attend the basketball game.  All notes must have a parent signature.  

JUNA members need to check their email for important reminders.2021-2022 Yearbooks are for sale:  Go to balfour.com/yearbooks and search for Oak Mountain Middle School.  They are $45.  Price will increase after Feb. 28th.

Any SGA member that did not get their t-shirt, should stop by Mrs. Acton’s room (C20) this week. The SGA yearbook picture will be made next Wednesday, March 2…wear your shirt.

ATTENTION 6th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS:  Below is the link to complete the Google Form for your student’s 7th grade course requests for the 2022-2023 school year. Course requests are not guaranteed. All courses are filled based on staffing for the school year and are subject to change. Please complete this form by Friday, March 4th at 3 pm. 7th Graders:  If you are interested in applying for Office Aide for your 8th grade year and you have not picked up an application, see Mrs. Whitt in the Front Office.  If you have already picked up your application, please make sure you complete it and turn it in.  If you are interested in being an aide in Mr. White’s class, please see him asap.  

Any 7th-grade student interested in being a Library Aide should pick up an application in the library. Applications are due on March 8th.

All 7th grade ELA students (not including Mrs. Rich’s classes) need to have their very own copy of THE PIGMAN by Paul Zindel in class by Monday, March 14th. Make plans NOW to purchase this novel so you can come to class prepared accordingly! This will also be announced daily in class beginning today.

8th Grade Parents! The yearbook staff is working on a very special memories page for the yearbook. In order to complete the page, we need your 8th grader’s baby picture as soon as possible! If you would like to share a baby photo of your child, please send it to our yearbook co-sponsor, Scott McIndoe at smcindoe@shelbyed.org. Be sure to include your student’s name with the photo.Please be sure to send a photo by February 28th! We are super excited about this and can’t wait to show you the final result! Thanks so much for your support!

Any 6th or 7th graders who have spoken to parents about cost and would like to sign up for dance should sign up with Mrs. Howton in the library by Friday, Feb 25th.   

Any current Dance Team members should return uniforms to Mrs. Howton asap! 

6th and 7th grade students who are interested in trying out for winter guard but didn’t attend the interest meeting need to come by Ms. Marzullo’s room (G-6) to get an application packet.  The clinic fee and paperwork are due by March 25th. Students interested in checking out a flag can come by Ms. Marzullo’s room during advisory. Clinics will take place April 4th-6th in the OMMS gym from 3:30-5:30. Tryouts will take place on April 7th in the OMHS band room at 3:30. Clinics are required to try out. 

 Attention 7th and 8th grade girls!  If you are interested in Engineering, or STEM fields in general join Eureka. OMMS SPORTS

Good luck to our baseball team in their double header at Echols today;  show choirs at their competition at Auburn HS today and our softball team at the Thompson Tournament at Veteran’s Park (Alabaster)!

Current 6th and 7th grade girls that want to try out for the 2022 volleyball teams need to complete all requirements found on the OMMS Volleyball Website and sign up in Coach Gunnels’s room A-21. Requirements must be met by March 2nd – NO EXCEPTIONS. Tryouts will be held March 7-10 at OMMS.
