American Association of Blacks in Energy Scholarship

The Birmingham Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy has begun its scholarship program for 2017. AAE is an organization of energy professionals dedicated to ensure the input of African Americans and other minorities into the discussion and development of energy policies, regulations, R&D technologies and environmental issues. One of the purposes of AABE is to encourage minority students to pursue careers in energy-related fields and to provide scholarships for such students.

The AABE Birmingham Scholarship Program consists of 2 scholarship opportunities:

The Premier Award of $5000 is awarded to a high school senior with a 3.0 or above GPA who demonstrates superior achievement and community involvement.

The Principal’s Choice Award of $750 is awarded to a striving C-student who exhibits potential for success in college. Applicants for this award must be recommended by their attending school’s principal or assistant principal in the form of a letter submitted to AABE.
