Calera Middle School Teacher Selected as Participant in Elite ‘Green Boot Camp’

Calera Middle School sixth grade science teacher Kevin Pughsley was recently selected to attend an innovative five-day educational workshop sponsored by Honeywell. Held in San Diego, CA in June 2013, the Honeywell Green Boot Camp is an intensive and interactive educational experience designed to train educators in the latest methods of instruction in renewable energy and environmental responsibility.

Pughsley was one of only 71 middle school teachers to receive an invitation out of more than 500 applicants. The workshop curriculum focused on equipping teachers with project-based learning exercises to get students excited about science and engineering, to increase their understanding of sustainable practices and renewable energy methodology, and to prepare students for the green careers of tomorrow.
