Track Dedication Firemen Sheriff Curry

Inverness Elementary School parents, students, and faculty participated in a Fall Fitness Fun Day on Saturday, October 5 to celebrate the opening of the school’s new track. Special guests for the track dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony included North Shelby Fire fighters and Sheriff Chris Curry.

The new track was built with funds raised by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and matching funds from the Shelby County Board of Education and a state-funded grant. The new track will be used during the school day for physical fitness activities.  It is also open at night and on the weekends for community use.

The Fall Fitness Fun Day featured fitness stations with activities such as an obstacle course, sit ups, and ball toss. Healthy snacks were donated by Walmart on 280.

“It was a wonderful community event where everyone enjoyed being outside and spending time with friends and family,” said Hoffman.
