Forest Oaks Elementary School Holds Official Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony

A large crowd of parents and community leaders were on hand February 27 for a ribbon cutting, open house, and dedication ceremony at the new Forest Oaks Elementary School.  The new school opened in January.

The ceremony featured the debut of the new school song by the Forest Oaks Overtones Show Choir.  The song was written by music teacher Cindy Woodham.  There was also a performance by the school’s cheerleading squad and special remarks by student Holden Griswold.

Among the special guests and speakers were Superintendent Randy Fuller, Chelsea Mayor Earl Niven, and Aubri McClendon with the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce.  Also in attendance were Chelsea City Council members, Sheriff Chris Curry, building architect Rick Lathan, Chelsea Fire Department personnel, and Chelsea City Observer Patrol members.

Guests enjoyed refreshments provided by the Shelby County Child Nutrition Program.  An ice sculpture of the school’s logo, provided by Jeff Jones with the UAB Food and Nutritional Services Department, was the centerpiece for the table.
