The Shelby County Board of Education has approved Kimberly Bailey to serve as the district’s new Guidance and Testing Supervisor. Â Ms. Bailey has 24 years of experience as an educator and currently works as a counselor at Helena High School.
Ms. Bailey taught English at Minor High School before she became a part of Oak Mountain High School’s counseling department where she was instrumental in aligning that program with National Standards.  While Ms. Bailey served as a gifted case manager in Shelby County, she co-created a high school gifted education program as well as a county-wide college admissions program.
Returning as a counselor at Chelsea High School, Ms. Bailey piloted and developed the My Future program at Chelsea High and instituted a comprehensive college admission program. Throughout her time in Shelby County, Mrs. Bailey has served as test coordinator at three different schools and has been involved both locally and nationally as a peer program trainer.
She is currently serving as lead counselor at Helena High School, where she was instrumental in developing the school’s first counseling program.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Language Arts from The University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Montevallo.
