Helena High School Battle of the Books Team

Shelby County High School took top honors for the annual Battle of the Books competition for the high school division.  Helena High School finished in second place.

Battle of the Books is a scholars bowl style competition where teams answer questions pertaining to six books chosen for that year.  This year the books for the high school competition included All the Bright Places; The Paladin Prophesy; Positive; Red Queen; Ten; and Timebound.

Sarah Whitley from Oak Mountain High School was the overall Individual High Scorer for the competition.  Others who were recognized as high scorers for each school were: Baylee Easterling and Laura Jane Stallo (tie) – Calera High; Juliette Lewis – Chelsea High; Mary Beth Oehrlein – Helena High; Sam Reece – Montevallo High; Jim Vick – Shelby County High School; and Brianna Abernathy – Vincent High.
