SOCIAL STUDIES PopQuiz this morning on Chapter 18, Section 1; students will outline Ch 18, Section 2; students will view example of house built on the plains and discuss construction materials; class reading of Ch 18, Section 2

SOCIAL STUDIES Our class will consider the development of ranching & farming as ways of life on the western plains; students will work in cooperative groups to complete the first portion of Guided Reading 18-2; concepts to be considered are long drives, the “Wild West”, the cattle kingdom;

SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue their study of the western plains by examining how farmers settled the plains and made them into fruitful lands; topics to be considered are The Homestead Act of 1862, exodusters, the Oklahoma Territory, and the closing of the western frontier; students will also complete Guided Reading 18-2;
