Week of 11-2-11-9 and IRP

Students were given a  list of this week’s vocabulary sheets.  The list of those I will test on is on the board in the class.  The test is on Friday 11-9. The extra credit is the same.  It is now 5th period and 95 students have taken the quiz.  Only 1 student has done the extra credit.  His initials are B.M..

The next reading log is due on 11-9.

Students may read anything they wish- fiction or non-fiction (including textbooks, excluding social media)  as long as they are reading for 3 minutes or more at a stretch for a total of 20 a day.  Lunchtime and freetime reading in school counts.  Logs do not have to be signed by parents.

IRP —The early due date for our next Independent Reading Project is 11-13 and the absolute last day to turn them in is 11-19.   We have had 4 class work sessions using our non-fiction projects.  Students have been given step by step instructions in class and used a peer review process to ensure their cards were interesting and facts other 6th graders do not know.  Students  were also given 3 classtime opportunities to check out books.  Students were taken through a step by step process for finishing the project including an examination of past projects.  All students completed a note card with instructions.  All students have been given note cards to complete the process.  If a student cannot afford a poster I can give them bulletin board paper to use.  All students must complete their own note cards.  Please e-mail me if you have a question.

The computer lab is open to all students at 7:20 every morning as is the media center and my classroom.

OOOps tests can be taken any morning but Wednesday and Wednesday after school.

Students should complete the following class assignment for Monday if they have not already done so:  Read pages 300,301,284,285,286,287, and answer questions 8,9,10, and 11 on 289 on looseleaf.
