Reading: Next week we begin a unit on conflict. We will be viewing 2 short
videos and reading, analyzing and responding to two magazine articles,
one short story, and a play. All deal with the topic of bullying in schools.
Academic terms for next week include: fiction and non-fiction, textual features
Plot and the parts of plot, conflict and the different types of conflict.
Students were given a handout of the vocabulary for the reading passages.
They will be tested on academic and passage vocabulary next Friday.
Open House is next Tuesday. You and the othercaregivers in each class will
spend 5 minutes as a group with each teacher.
English : We will be concentrating on capitalization and nouns in grammar.
We will continue practicing responding to literature and the
Collins Method of Writing.
Students were given a list of The Twelve Powerful Wors and will be given words
using the prefixes pre and post. They will have a quiz on those words on Friday.
