After speaking with other 6th grade teachers this afternoon, I have decided to postpone this week’s assignments to next week.
We will be working on our poetry booklets and I will be conferencing with students during class.
The poetry booklet is due 3-14
Original Poems each student should write
- Diamante beginning with first name and ending with last, participial phrases—cover
- Haiku
- Limerick
- Ode (parody such as Ode to my pencil or serious)
- Concrete
- Ballad or Song lyrics ( 2 verses and chorus minimum)
- Simile/metaphor
- Special Word Acrostic (back page)
When we open them out the front and back covers will make a quilt piece for our Author’s Cultural Quilt because both poems are about the author
