busy last week – meetings are so much fun…
“Mister Max” – great book for sixth grade, my audience, and certainly below them – would make a great elementary book competition book – and even better, first of a series so those that get hooked can keep going – I liked probably most the early 20th century history that was mixed in – well, that and the ice cream mentions
“Homeless at Harvard” – compelling story of a Harvard graduate-to-be and the summer he spent purposefully homeless with the group at the Square – having been to the area – it was where I stayed for the Marathon – it just made the people that more interesting – I thought the book did a great job balancing its purpose – which wasn’t to solve the problems of homelessness or tell us what to do or how to fix it – the author just really tried to tell about his summer and the people he met – which left us to form our conclusions – very accessible book for my middle school gifted
“Write Out Loud” – works well for my middle school gifted – a book on the personal essay – what most colleges use in some way to admit – there were a few activities in the book that we’ll do in the classroom – just a great book on good writing principles – and clearly, something my kids can use in the future as they leave me
“cinder” – um, spoiler alert – BOB for this year – I was NOT happy as it is a romance – I’m sure Sarah Elizabeth will be thrilled with the selection – Billy, you must promise to hate this book…
Maf
First!!!!!!
Anyway, Keaton, you are posing a threat to me, because you say you are ruler of ducks, which is impossible, since I assumed the role of ruler of all birds ages ago.
Fred
P.S. I finished Around the World in 80 Days
Then I will gladly give up ducks, as long as I keep turtles. π
I now rule (insert something that swims that Fred doesn’t rule here)
I call the nonfiction book about baseball this year. π
By the way, i have a book you should read “Hacking Harvard” very funny, lots of bad words though you would still enjoy it. Maybe highshool bob
sadly, I don’t think the baseball book was in the mix (I was left off the committee this year so i’m going to take every chance to bash the choices:)
I’ve read hacking Harvard – I want to say when it came out – ivy leagues and admissions intrigue me – one of the more unfair games there is out there is the process of getting into one of those upper level schools – i’m just glad nick saban doesn’t get signees based on their essays:)
can I call a-rod for next year’s fantasy draft??? like, for him to literally join us since he’ll have nothing else better to do
Sure, we weren’t a real leauge last year, because we did not have a potty mouth.
Only 14 days til school!!!!! I’m counting down the days and summer is taking too long. ):
Since i won camp nanowrimo, it gave me $5 off in the “camp gift shop” so I plan on buying a flash drive that’s a bracelet.
Iβm enjoying summer while it lasts, unlike some people, because they give us summer break to get rid of us, and they donβt want us back until they have to take us back, so it makes them happy, and us happy π
Not only is a romantic story, it’s a CYBORG, romantic book. I read the preview on amazon. I need the Tim Hudson book next to make it even close to even. Can you do that for me Mafeld?
well, there’s currently a debate on non-fiction – and I was butted out of the conversation – so no, I know you think I am Oz, great and powerful, but I sadly have no pull over women and their romance novels:(
Sometimes i look at these comments and i have the slight thought that some if yall are serial killers….JUST KIDDING!!! BUT some of you do scare me sometimes. (Prepares for smart and witty burn) I can not WAIT for school to start!!! I am dying here!!! Dont let me die π School needs to start NOW! Most people hate school, i love school, all my friends are there. It’s all about the friends, learning?? Pshh, never heard of it. Mr. Maf, i just thought if something. You NEED an Instagram. (Not facebook, because i dont have that) now i know being a teacher of kids like ME you probably wouldn’t have time. BUT if you had an Instagram you could TELL everyone about you joyous and crazy moments with us weirdos.

ah, spelling corrections – I’ve missed those
(sorry about the delay – I’ve been dying in teacher training this week)
id do need instagram – I agree:)
Do you have a list of the books yet? I’ll even voluntarily pick the nonfiction one. I got forced onto how they croaked. And talking about dying (croaking) you don’t play middle school football. I’m going to be dead before even really starts.(conditioning)
I agree with the heat – I ran at oak mountain at 3 pm Wednesday and nearly died – it’s brutal out there – that said, this week starts my afternoon running at 3 – so i’m not looking forward it – and i’d look forward to less if I was a football player and had to stand around for two hours:)
i’m going to let ms. blount tell you the books – I don’t want to ruin her thunder – I still think the non-fiction one is out – I will blog about the one I read this week when I write tomorrow
go braves
I am reading Hells Guest, by Glenn Frazier who joined World War Two when he was only 16, and at that time you had to be 21. The main conflict in the book is that col Glenn Frazier was captured by the “japs” as he likes to call the Japanese. He has to do a death march in which there is much killing and walking. He walked about five or six days without any water or food. The japs would kill them if they got water or food. There’s five minutes about my book
