no writing while the play is going on…

“the princess, the scoundrel, and the farmer” – a reinterpretation of star was episode iv – a very clever book idea – only disney could think of such a thing – sadly, i don’t think enough time was poured into the project – b/c i think the possibilities were endless – particularly the further out you got into minor characters – like what a stormtrooper was doing when the death star blew up…

“for the glory” – great, great book – biography on the central character of chariots of fire – eric liddel gave up running the 100 meter race b/c it was going to be run on a sunday in the olympics – he gave up fame to become a missionary in china – he gave up his family to remain with the chinese with a war going on – just an amazing reminder that there are people who are saints among us – great, encouraging read

“in the distance” – another great book – this one about running – and aging – and attempting great things – what if you lived your life in such a way that it made you memorable, encouraged others? i thought of this book yesterday while watching and running with my mom as she tackled the hills of mountain brook in a 10k race

read across america week – you know, make america great again…

“antifragile” – great economic theory book – by a very bitter man:) the book could’ve been much shorter – but the basic point was good – there were even ties to literature – in the sense that you can project a book’s future by its history – so 80 Days will be around for at least another 130 years – while Twilight may – may – make it another 20…

“eleanor and park” – was okay – best line was near the end – that park wasn’t a boyfriend, he was a champion – and i thought that insight was worth the trouble of reading the book – b/c how many of us end up with champions in our lives – yet we can all be that for other people

school cancelled on account of yucky-ness:)

good day to be indoors and resting marathon soreness:)

“Dodgerland” – great, great book – history of the baseball LA teams in 1977-78 – how LA was transitioning into things that would be relevant in the years to come – several narratives woven throughout the story – awesome, awesome book for my history lovers – and baseball lovers – in the classroom

“show your work” – book on creativity – how to jump start something – good, practical advice
