Students were allowed to read and answer the "Plate Tectonics" Review Questions from the chapter. Soon after, they began taking notes from the PowerPoint and discussions on the newly learned material.

Plate Tectonics
Today, the Earth Science classes were introduced to the theory of "Plate Tectonics". They began by defining the key terms in the chapter to get a preliminary understanding of the terms and how they relate to Plate Tectonics. (44 pts)
Earthquakes
Today, we completed the "Earthquakes & Earth's Interior" Chapter Assessment in class. They were also responsible for completing the seek-n-find for class and the Vocabulary Test in Class. They will have the Chapter Test on Friday.

Today, we completed Aim 21 and had the "Earthquakes and Earth's Interior" Seek-n-Find. We will have the "Earthquakes & Earth's Interior" Vocabulary Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Friday.
Earth’s Interior
Students drew the picture of the parts of the Earth's Interior from P. 234-235 in their book. They were told how large to draw the picture and to be sure NOT to Trace the picture from their book. They are expected to draw the picture larger than the picture in their books. They also completed Aim 2 from a workbook to emphasize the parts of the interior of the Earth. The "Earthquakes and Earth's Interior" Voc. Test will be Thursday and the Chapter Test on Friday.
Earthquakes & Earth’s Interior
Today, we completed the notes on Earthquakes, long & short term predictions and began talking about the layers of the earth. We mentioned the Earth's layers by composition and physical traits and then discussed how we know the layers makeup. Also, they were reminded to have their colored pencils for class tomorrow for the assignment.

Students took notes from the "Earthquakes and Earth's Interior" PowerPoint. We discussed the use of Seismic Station and differences in P and S waves to located earthquakes. Class was concluded with the notes on location of the Ring of Fire.

We continued the notes on "Earthquakes & Earth's Interior" from the PowerPoint. We discussed the difference in aftershock/foreshock, elastic energy theory, and seismology. Students were reminded to have their colored pencils daily.

Earthquakes
We had a quick poptest/preview test to see what they knew about earthquakes. Some thought they knew a lot, but knew very little about earthquakes. Afterwards, they worked on the "Earthquakes and Earth's Interior" Review Questions (60 pts). Several students did not take advantage of the time they were given in class. The worksheet is due on tomorrow.
