The Guidance Center will be looking for candidates from the junior class for The 2020 Alabama Girls State and Boys State in March…check your school mail at least once a week
Alabama Girls State will be held on the University of Alabama Campus in June. Girls State is described as a laboratory of practical government, policies, and citizenship. Students must be in the junior class and entering their senior year and have an interest in government and current events, high moral character, strong leadership and above average scholastic standing. OMHS may send 2 participants at their own expense which is $200 each.
Alabama Boys State will be held from on the campus of the University of Alabama in June. The purpose of Boys State is to educate our youth in the duties and privileges of American citizenship. It is a program of training in the practical aspects of government. Students must be juniors entering their senior year, have an outstanding academic record and leadership potential and an interest in government. OMHS may select up to 7 students and the cost to attend is $225 each.
Please begin thinking about these prominent programs. To be considered for selection for Girls State or Boys State, please bring your resume to the Guidance Center by March 23rd.
