Shelby County Poetry Players represented not only Montevallo High School but the entire Shelby County School District as the featured performers at Write Connection, a high school writer’s conference, and again at Write in the Middle, another conference for middle school writers. These two events were held at the University of Montevallo, February 20 -21.
Poetry Players are gifted actors who “kidnap” their audiences with exciting poetry renditions – often pulling unsuspecting audience members onto the stage as part of the act. They take poetry from the page to the stage with enough vigor, added music, and shenanigans that make the written words come to life in an unforgettable fashion.
Poetry Players from Montevallo High include: Chloe’ Bertschinger, Cebastian Cardozo, Alexander Ezelle, Christina Morris, Frances Pope, Austin Spears, and Peyton Talley. Mary Embry, Devin Cartwell, and Sarah Blalock, also members of the team, are students from Calera High.
The Poetry Players will light up the stage once again at Montevallo’s Arts Fest on Saturday, April 12th. Come see them for yourself!
