In March, the Forest Oaks Elementary Student Council sponsored a Pennies for Patients fund drive to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Forest Oaks students were provided boxes to collect donations from family and friends. After one week, students returned their donation boxes to their individual classrooms. An LLS representative counted every class’s donations which totaled $4,162.99—made up mostly of loose and discarded coins!
Congratulations to Mrs. Cespedes’ 2nd grade class for raising $405 and being the top-collecting class!
The money raised by the students of Forest Oaks Elementary School will be used to fund further research in the treatment of blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
