Students at the Shelby County College and Career Center recently completed in various state competitions, with several of them earning first place honors that qualified them to compete at national competitions this summer.
The following Shelby County College and Career Center students recently placed at the Alabama Skills USA competition, held April 24-25 at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center.
- Crime Scene Investigation: first place – Hugo Anguiano, Kinsey Merrell, and Alex Roskam; second place – Bailey Ledbetter, Cheyenne Reynolds, and Samantha Garlick
- Criminal Justice: first place – Tyler Patton; second place – Ian Rettig; and third place – Brian Ashworth
- Fire Fighting: first place – Matthew Wills; and second place – Elliott Folmar
- Cosmetology: third place – Monica Espinoza
- Construction Residential Wiring: first place – Jakob Pierce
- Collision Repair: third place – Hunter Tate
- Welding: fourth place – Payton Edwards and eleventh place – Seth Harris
The following students placed at the FFA Central District Landscape/Nursery competition, which was held in Clanton on April 11:
- Agriscience, Plant Systems: third place – Zack Smith, Cody Howell, Hunter Howell, and Adan Moreno.
The following students placed at the Alabama HOSA competition, held February 20-21 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center
- Medical Reading: second place – Kansas Kirk
- Epidemiology: first place – Kara Shaddix
