The Shelby County Board of Education approved two new principals and an assistant principal at their July 10 board meeting.
Mary Anderson will serve as the new assistant principal for Chelsea Park Elementary. Ms. Anderson has over 10 years experience in public education and most recently served as a principal for the Cleveland School District in Mississippi. Ms. Anderson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.
Dr. Susan Cole will serve as the new principal for Calera Elementary School. Dr. Cole has over 29 years experience in education and has served as a teacher and a principal in Georgia and Florida. Dr. Cole earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University, and Ed.S in Education Leadership from the University of West Georgia and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama.
Susan Downs will serve as the new principal for Calera Intermediate School. Ms. Downs has over 26 years experience in public education and has served as a teacher, educational consultant, assistant principal and principal. Ms. Downs earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Samford University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Montevallo.
