The Student Government Association of The Shelby County College and Career Center is hosting the 5th Annual Pink Out Day to raise money for breast cancer research on Friday, October 17 from 12:30-2:00. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Prior to Friday’s activities, the school will also be having Dress Up Days for the students throughout the week. Tuesday will be PJ Day where students hope to “Put Breast Cancer to Rest”; Wednesday will be Super Hero Day because the students are “Fighting for a Cure”; Thursday is Camouflage Day because students are “Hunting Down a Cure”; and Friday is Pink Out day, where the entire school will be decorated in pink and all students will be pinked out.
The 2014 Pink Out King and Queen will be crowed at 12:45 p.m. Following the crowing of the king and queen, students will pay $2.00 in order to participate in a “Battle for the Cure” Kickball game.
Pink drinks and snacks, pink hair, pink nails, and pink face paint will be sold to raise money. T-shirts have also been sold and collection jars have been placed in area businesses.
The Health Care Science class has been educating their fellow students about the importance of early detection and self exams.
