The Shelby County College & Career Center (SCCCC) hosted an Open House on October 23 for over 35 members of the business, industry, and post-secondary community. Business representatives from several companies attended the event, along with post-secondary partners such as ITT Technical Institute, Herzing University, Lawson State Community College, and Jefferson State Community College. Also in attendance were representatives of the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce, the Shelby County Economic Development Authority, and local municipalities.
According to Principal Russ Cofield, the purpose of the event was to showcase the school’s programs, to establish additional business and industry partnerships, and to help students develop relationships with potential employers.
“The Business/Industry Open House provided an opportunity to tour our campus, meet our students and faculty members, and learn more about the college and career standards we have established,” said Cofield. “Our goal was to strengthen relationships with local industries through advisory council memberships and connections to campus events such as our annual Career Expo/Open House for current and prospective students.”
