Forty-two Chelsea High School students recently attended the State Thespian Festival, held January 16-17 at Samford University. Chelsea’s production of Pride and Prejudice was selected as one of the four main stage performances for the festival, held in the Brock Concert Hall.
“I am very proud of the 25 member cast and crew, especially Olivia Daly and Isabella Prince, for stepping in at the last minute to replace actors that could not attend,” said theater teacher Francie Gardner.
Chelsea students won several awards, including:
- Tech students won the Lords of Tech award.
- Steven Overlaur was part of the winning improv face-off team and Lily Berg won improv queen.
- Josh Eubanks and Kyra Harris received a superior rating for their short Film.
- Jada Foster received a superior rating for solo musical theater.
- Katie Rexroad received a superior rating for solo musical theater.
- Juliette Lewis received a superior rating for her monologues performance.
- Morgan Gay received a superior rating and a perfect score for her monologues performance.
Students who earned a Superior now have the opportunity to compete at the International Festival in Nebraska this summer.
