Sixth-grade students from across Shelby County participated in the district’s annual Scholars Bowl competition Wednesday, February 3 at the Shelby County Instructional Services Center.
Columbiana Middle School’s team took top honors with the first place win. Chelsea Middle School finished in second place while Oak Mountain Middle finished in third place.
Individual High Scorers from each school were:
- Calera Middle School – Abby Snyder
- Chelsea Middle School – Joel Young
- Columbiana Middle School – Patrick Decker
- Helena Middle School – Emily Moore
- Montevallo Middle School – Katie Ozley
- Oak Mountain Middle School – Houston Graham
- Vincent Middle School – Griffin Martin
Joel Young, from Chelsea Middle School, was the overall first-place high scorer. Patrick Decker from Columbiana Middle School was the second-place high scorer and Griffin Martin from Vincent Middle School was the third-place high scorer.
