SCCCC Students Place Third in State EMT Competition

Two students from the Shelby County College and Career Center recently placed at the HOSA Student Leadership Conference held in Montgomery Februrary 25-26.

Senior students Brooke Denson and Madison Andrews made it to the second round of skills competition for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) placing third in the competition.  Both students are students in the new EMT program that is now being offered as a Career Technical course at the Shelby County College and Career Center.  By placing in the state competition, both students have qualified for the International Leadership Conference, which will be held June 22-25 in Nashville, TN.

According to instructor Heather High, both Denson and Andrews will be able to test for the National Registry and obtain an Alabama State License for EMT after the graduate in May.
