Career Technical students from 13 middle and high schools, as well as the Shelby County College and Career Center, were recently honored at the first annual Career Technical Education Awards Banquet held April 14 at the Shelby County Instructional Services Center. Chief Deputy Chris George, with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, was the guest speaker for the event which was sponsored by Shelby County Community Education, the Shelby County Education Foundation, and Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q.
Students honored were nominated based on the following criteria: Career Technical Program credentials/academics, Career Tech Service Organizations (CTSO) leadership, and/or career technical conference winners. Teachers of the various career technical programs throughout the county were also recognized.
