The Oak Mountain Middle School’s Debate team recently won first place for the season after competing for the past eight months in the Birmingham Area Debate League.

Plaques were awarded to the top three middle school teams.  There were two divisions, one based on the percentage of wins over the season and the other based on the actual number of wins over the season which ran from September through April. Oak Mountain Middle School won based on their percentage of wins.

Oak Mountain Middle School Debate members included eighth-graders Nylah Bluiett, Kathryn Branum, Kayla Coleman, Adrienne Cooley, Elena Gagliano, and Akhila Maruvada, and sixth-grader Sarah Vines.
