The Shelby County Board of Education has approved new administrators for Wilsonville Elementary, Helena Middle and Chelsea High. Melody Bryne was named the new principal of Wilsonville Elementary, while Andrew Gunn was named the new principal of Helena Middle. Tyler Spruill will serve as a new assistant principal at Chelsea High.
Byrne began her teaching career at Vincent Elementary School and has over 20 years of experience in public education. For the last eleven years, she has served as the Assistant Principal at Elvin Hill Elementary School. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an Educational Specialist degree from Samford University.
Gunn has over thirteen years of experience in public education. Currently, he is the Principal at Chelsea Middle School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University.
Spruill has eight years of experience in education and currently serves as a Math teacher at Helena High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from William Carey University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
