The Shelby County School District recently hosted “We Honor You”, a retirement event to honor 71 employees who have retired since July 1, 2018, or plan on retiring by June 30, 2019. Those 71 employees have a collective total of 1,516 years of service to the district.
The event was sponored by ēCO Credit Union and the Shelby County Schools Education Foundation. Catering for event was prepared by the Shelby County Schools Child Nutrition Department.
Honored guests were presented with an engraved “We Honor You” picture frame, which can be used to frame a portrait photo that was taken at the retirement reception by Calera High School students from the Marketing and Business Education class. The CaHS students also filmed the retiring educators for a special video project where they asked them to share the wisdom and insight gained over the course of their long careers.
“We value the dedication and commitment of our employees,” said Dr. Resia Brooks, Coordinator of Human Resources. “As such, we wanted to recognize our retirees for their years of service in our district.”
“The We Honor Your Retirement Celebration brings classified and certified employees together so that we can celebrate their journey and accomplishments in serving our students and the community. We are thrilled to make this an annual event,” Dr. Brooks said.
