Mt Laurel Elementary School and Oak Mountain Elementary School were honored recently at the state Board of Education meeting for being two of the top 25 schools in Alabama.
The recognition was part of the Legislative School Performance Program, a state law that assigns letter grades to schools and school districts based on student academic achievement and other readiness measures. Mt Laurel Elementary received a 99 (A) on the state report card and Oak Mountain Elementary received a 98 (A). Those grades place them among the two 25 elementary schools in the state.
Each school was recognized with a state board resolution for their student achievements as well as a $2,000 cash award.
