The Shelby County Board of Education hired four new assistant principals during their June 30 Board of Education meeting.
Mr. Michael Jones was named the new assistant principal for New Directions. Mr. Jones has ten years of experience in education and is currently the Assistant Principal at Calera High School. Mr. Jones obtained a Bachelor degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Education degree in Collaborative Education from the University of Alabama, and a Masters degree in Instructional Leadership and an Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership from the University of Montevallo.
Mrs. Laura Junkin will serve as the new assistant principal at Oak Mountain Intermediate School.Ā Mrs. Junkin has twelve years of experience in elementary and middle school education and is currently an Assistant Principal at Gardendale Elementary School in Jefferson County. She has a Masterās degree in Elementary Education from the University of St Thomas, a Masterās degree in Educational Leadership and an Ed.S. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Andrea Childress will serve as the new assistant principal for Columbiana Middle School. Ms. Childress has been an educator for over nine years and has recently served as a Science teacher at Chelsea Middle School. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Tuskegee University, a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education from the University of Montevallo, a Master of Education degree in Instructional Leadership and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Samford University. Currently she is pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Samford University.
Ms. Sheryl Jones was named assistant principal at Calera Middle School.Ā Ms. Jones has over twenty-two years of experience as an educator and is currently an English teacher at Oak Mt Middle School. She has a Bachelorās of Science Degree in English Language Arts from Samford University and a Masterās Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.
