Several students from Chelsea High School recently attended the Make A Change program sponosred by the YWCA of Central Alabama on January 26. Eleven peer helpers and two Key Club members attended the one-day social justice and leadership program designed to lead students through illuminating and empowering activities and discussions aimed at making schools and communities more inclusive. The Chelsea students joined students from Wenonah and Carver High Schools in learning more about the topic of “privilege” in society.
“The students all worked in small groups and particiated in activities that encouraged them to make a change in their communities and schools,” said Chelsea teacher Jennifer Bailey.
