Deputy David Morrow, who serves as the School Resource Officer for Chelsea Middle School, was awarded a Valor Award from the National Sheriff’s Association at a suprise pep rally on March 14. The award was presented by Shelby County Sheriff Chris Curry.
Morrow was nominated for the award by Captain Chris George for his actions in helping to peacefully resolve a situation at the school on Feburary 12, 2013 involving a gunman who took five students hostage.
“I am shocked and honored to receive this award,” said Deputy Morrow. “I would never want to repeat what happened that day, but I am glad that I was here. I am also glad that you students were well trained and knew what to do that day.”
