About

While I’m called Mom 90% of the time, my friends and colleagues call me Sherri. I have taught in Shelby County for 20 years. I spent my first 6 years teaching English and Broadcast Journalism and coaching soccer at Oak Mountain High School. After a brief attempt at the stay-at-home mommy business (I don’t know how moms do it), I found refuge at Chelsea Middle School where I taught 8th-grade Pre-AP ELA and GRC.

I am currently serving as SCBOE’s Middle School Gifted Education Lead Teacher. Although I miss interacting with students (NOT GRADING ESSAYS), I have truly enjoyed supporting our teachers and sharing knowledge with teachers, parents, and students.

I have a special place in my heart for the unique needs of gifted students. It is my sincere hope that this blog will serve as a wonderful resource for anyone looking to learn more about Gifted Education or searching for great ideas to add rigor and creativity to the classroom.
