Week of 1-11 thru 1-17

We will begin our study of the historical novel,  Daniel’s Story by         Carol Matas this week.  Students may bring a personal copy or use the classroom copy,.  In the past I have found it beneficial for the student to have their own copy but it is not required.

legendary adj.-based on narrative , that may be based on some facts, told so often it is thought to be true
rash adj., acting with haste or quickly with recklessness and little thought
servitude noun- slavery
virtue noun -a moral goodness or excellence
fable noun-a brief narrative in prose or verse, that teaches a moral or gives a practical lesson about life
connotation & denotation denotation  is the dictionary or literal definition of a word and connotation is the feeling associated with a word  example-tiny, cramped and compact all have the same dictionary definition but have different feeling associations
analyzing verb- looking at separate parts to understand the entire piece of writing
