Students Centered on Reading and English 6th

My planning time is from 8:15 until 8:45 am. The rest of the day I am teaching classes so I may not respond to e-mails as quickly as I did in the past. If you have an emergency and need me to phone you, send an e-mail with your number and I will try to get back with you after school.
Our first week is complete. It was a great, although harried, week. We scored points for our first homework practice, a name placard, wrote our first paragraphs and established a few important class rules.
Next week we will focus on the following:
1. comparing and contrasting fiction and non-fiction
2.close reading and using textual features to enhance understanding
3. definition and identification of assertions, predictions, sequence
4. definition and use of: fac, fic, non,
5. definition, identification and use of the parts of speech with emphasis on nouns
6. definition and use of: victims, psychologist, subjected, satisfaction, discipline, surveyed, recited, uproar, policies, representative, verbal, psychiatrist, comeback, co-authored, ringleader, awareness, promote, civility

Our reading passages, which are fiction and non-fiction selections, and videos will focus on bullying.

Independent Reading assignments begin next week.
