as for what i’ve been reading, i read the entire new testament last week on the treadmill as i ran 108 miles (not all the treadmill but with the sub-artic temps, lots of those miles) – i guess what struck me this time was the number of times the prophecy in isaiah of people seeing but never truly seeing was mentioned – like at least five times
i read a running book about cross country in kentucky in the 1970s – coach butcher era – also am 3/4ths of the way through a book on the boston marathon – a mile-by-mile deal
read “dutch” – a book on ronald reagan – didn’t enjoy the book nearly as much as i did the first time i read the book – the author sort of wrote it in quasi-historical fiction – confusing what was real and what wasn’t – but in his defense, he didn’t get reagan and thought this was the only way he could

it’s pretty good, so here’s a summary
This girl is really depressed and has to go to this Al-Anon class becuase she turned her dad in for drunk driving and now he’s in jail. She works at a shoe store and this girl came into the store with her little brother that wanted to play with the fake squirrels from the fake tree, so she let him. Then, a boy cane in that was looking at womens shoes and when he got a pair he liked he ran out the door. So, to find out that was the girls brother, and she had to call her brother and tell her to bring the shoes back. So when he did, Mrs. Gladstone, her boss decided not to press charges because her dad was in prison and her mom was a drug addict. So that pretty much sums it up.

Hey Mr. Mayfield I am reading The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain. The characters in this short story are Leonidas W. Smiley (he is a minister of the gospel), Simon Wheeler, Jim Smiley, Parson Walker and his wife. This book takes place in the winter of 49 or 50 at a camp which is called “Angle Camp” and so far Simon Wheeler is betting Parson Walker on something that I can not remember. There is a dog named Andrew Jackson that does not have a hind leg because of some tragic accident. There is another dog named Dan’l and the only way he would jump is if you say “1……..2……….3………JUMP!” And at the end the narrater is bidding on some gentleman then he departs. Oh it is spoken in first person if you did not all ready know. sooooooo bye.

Hey maf!! so i had an awesome christmas break and i also read alot!!! believe it or not i read a whole book and im sure uve heard of it cuz it’s the second book of the vampire diaries series.(or at least i think it is) Elena and Stefan are together forever and now the war between damon and stefan rages on. they battle it out over elena until they realize she has been turned into a vampire by some “other power.” throughout the whole first part of the book they are looking for this force and trying to find it so they can defeat it. in the end of the first section they discover the other power is katherine. yes that is stefan and damons long lost love but this time she is out to kill them both plus elena!!! in the end elena kills her but gets herself killed as well even though she is a vampire. the second section of the book is basically a grieving time since elena is really dead. caroline is tryin to rejoin forces with her used to be enemies. it doesnt go so well when merediths surprise party gets crashed by an evil power. bonnie has to summon stefan back so he can protect them and defeat it forever. in the end stefan almost dies along with matt meredith and caroline. bonnie is the only one left until damon comes in to save the day and his lil bro. elena comes down to earth to give them some side help but i the end she is returned back to where she belonged. then stefan insane with greif screams for her and a girl suddenly appears in the empty field and yep u guessed it! it was elena but she had no clothes on so caroline gave her the cape thingy or whatever she was wearing cuz she had something underneath it. then they all lived happily ever after until the next book. THE END!!!!

So, i got that half minute horrors book that u read to us that one day and ive been readin on that just until i get mi new book when we go shoppin. but n e wayz i read the chicken or the egg by jerry spinelli which was about this egg and chicken havin it out over who goes first then the chicken lets the egg go first and then pecks the egg until yellow stuff comes oozing out. the end was funny cuz neither one of them agreed on who goes last.then i read the something u oughta kno story by lemony snicket which really creeped me out cuz it reminded me of the graveyard book with the killer dude jack!!!! then i read that alexandra and rose lil pic thingy and it was so freaky at the end yet so funny!!!! u wouldnt think that someone would be that desperate to have the bigger window that she would kill her sister….. then i read an easy gig ( which i think u read this to us in class unless momma mayfield did but im not sure) by m.t. anderson and it was kinda freaky-ish. it made me wonder how they turned the baby into lasagna unless the lasagna was the bay’s intestines or something but that would be really gross and i think the boy wouldve known when he was eating it. then i read hank which i think momma mayfield read to us already but it’s about a killer dog named hank who tries to murder his owner. yeah kinda creepy but i guess that’s why they call the book half minute horrors! lolz!

ok im gonna go ahead and do thursdays journal just in case the power goes out or something but i dont think it will or at least i hope not. i read the deep six short story by faye kellerman and it was all about revenge. and the message would be to always wear a bathing cap when ur making fun of somebody and ur in a jacuzzi and the other person hates u! lolz but yeah that wouldve pushed me to the limit if someone was sayin that about me i mean come on. then i read heart stopper by sienna mercer. it was about this gurl who lost her friend bcuz she was drowning in the freezing cold lake. well this gurl was standing next to her counselor and pretty soon the same murderer that killed the other gurl who drowned just killed the gurl. the camp counselor had murdered once more! i read the short story up to mi elbow by jack gantos and it was kinda strange. he felt pain cuz maybe he was srry for what he had done or bcuz he caused pain for others and he became that pain in the palm of his hand and so he went to the kitchen and cut his arm off. very nice short story indeed lolz! ok so im just gonna finish for 2nite by sayin i hope we dont have to go to school friday!!!!!!! and i am an angel in disguise thank u very much mister!!!!!! lolz BIE!!!!!!!
I’m finishing up Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man, I don”t remember where i left off before Christmas break, so I’ll start from here. So far he has moved back in with his parents and is keeping a journal of everyday living with his parents. His dad has excepted him fully and his mom is getting there. Him and his dad entered in a fishing tornament and cheated to win, with his dads taxtadermy kit. Him and his mom don’t really hang out like they talk to each other and stuff. One day his parents weren’t home and he was outside and saw two teenagers makeing out and drinking in the car. He spied on them for a while, then they got outa the car and came into the Malt shop his parents own. Even though the shop was closed and he wasn’t suppose to let anyone in he still did b/c they said that they only needed to use the restroom. The guy asked if anyone was there and he said that his parentsare right down the road they’ll be back any second. So right after the guys girldfriend got done using the bathroom they both got in the car and left, swerving all over the road. As soon as they left his parents came home from being out with their friends, wondering why he wasn’t out with his friends making trouble.
I am reading The Convicts and i think the authors purpose is to entertain. A summary of the part that i read is Tom is at the bottom of a river and someone is pulling him down. he starts kicking at the person and his shoe comes off, he’s loose and he swims as fast as he can to the surface. A lady on a boat comes up and throws him a rope. he grabbed it and they pull him on the boat. When Tom gets on the boat he notices that his friend is on it, too. They go back to shore and hide in the cabin. Then the lady ask where Tom is from and he says the village across the river. So the lady hides tom and his friend in the boat and they go across the river. The village is his dads village and tom really wants to see him. Thats the summary. I think the genre is realistic fiction.

I am reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. This book compares well to Rules by Cynthia Lord. The main reasons I think Tom Sawyer compares well to Rules is that Catherine has a little brother named David. David is wild and crazy like Tom and gets into trouble alot. Catherine is kind of like Tom’s Aunt Polly, always having to look out for Tom, and Catherine has to always look after David, but in the end Catherine and Aunt Polly always end up forgiving David and Tom.

I am almost halfway through the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, it is a good book so far. Right now Tom, Huck Finn, and Joe Harper have just started their adventures as “pirates”. They have landed on Jackson’s Island. When the “pirates” started to go to bed Huck Finn, who had been an orphan most of his life, and before that he was a son of a druken man who lived in jail most of the time, went to bed fine, but the other two worried about all the crimes they already comitted.

I am reading Beach Trip,
First we start out with Lola, Mel, Sara, and Annie, college roommates and close friends who get together 20 years later, in their 40’s, for a week at the beach. Life has taken them in completely different directions since their college years. Mel is a writer who lives life in new york city by partying and going out and making something of herself,unlike her chidlhood friend sara. Sara is the perfect mother with two kids and her husband,she is a clean freak and loves life. Lola is married to Briggs.and lives in Alabama,even though she doesn’t love briggs and he doesn’t love her they stay together because of each others social status’ and her mother wouldn’t have it any other way. She is always drugged up with something. they both have an affair going on.I haven’t read anything about annie yet.

‘Sup it’s Rolando and I WAS reading New Moon. then i decied it too boring to read anymore I could not stand to read another page of it. Good-bye twilight. When i started reading it it was acually enjoyable, but then i kept reading and it got very bad. i liked the part where she got a paper cut and she was pushed into the glass table by Edweirdo because Jazzper was jumping to make her boo-boo worse. then it all went nuts because no one could handle the smell of her blood, but Carlisle. then there was no action whatsoever. to tell u the truth, enless there is action throughtout the book i’ll put it down and never pick it back up. Maybe that’s why i liked Hunger Games so much, because the killing and the suspense of the chance of dying. by the way is Catching Fire as good? anywhatchamajigger, i could not hanlde how slow it was so i put it down , but i’ll watch the movie because i’ve heard it’s pretty good. my new buk i got was something i think will be pretty cool. it’s Castaways of the Flying Dutchman. It is about this boy and his dog who’s ship get attacked by the Flying Dutchman (go figure skate) and the boy gets knocked out somehow and his dog pulls him on some parts of the ship that float, but with the flying dutchman around would he have wanted his dog to pull him up?
i read this year’s class photo, a story about zombies. at the end of the book, there is a lot of outer conflict. the school is being overrun by a 100 or so zombies and ms.geiss has to fight them all off with 3 flares, gas, a pistol, and a rifle. as you can probably guess, there is a lot of conflict in the couple pages in which there is extensive violence.
i read this years class photo, the same story about zombies, and there is a lot of internal conflict as well as the external conflict mentioned previously (im all about big words today.) after ms.Geiss defeats the impending zombie apocalypse, she asks herself, “do i need to teach these zombie children?” so she lets them go, and she goes back to the class room and hears zombies coming through the west gate. she decides not to shoot whatever comes at her because she already gave up everything she lives for(that being the children) and it turns out that the zombies coming through the west gate are the same kids she taught for many years. they go back to their seats without chains, and she decides to carry on her pathetic life
First of all, I wanted to say that this weather thing is ridiculous. We’re out today with no snow, and we’re in tomorrow while the roads are iced over??? Crazy. Anyway, still reading Catching Fire and it’s getting better. I was wondering if I could do just one big summary of what I’ve read and like, reflect on it instead of doing author’s purpose and all that jazz ‘cuz I’m doing the same thing over and over again. Since we don’t have telekenesis, I’ll do the summary and if I need to, make it up tomorrow. Okay, Katniss and Peeta have gotten done with their Victory Tour and they are just getting back to their lives when President Snow comes and forces a marriage between Katniss and Peeta. They get engaged, but for the 75th anniversary of the Hunger Games, the Capitol throws in a crazy thing the makes the Games tougher. They do this every 25 years. For this Quarter Quell, that’s what they’re called, the tributes will be drawn from the pool of remaining victors in each district. Since there are only 3 victors in District 12, Peeta and Katniss end up going back. When they get to the Capitol, some of the tributes are very old, which is pitiful to me that the Capitol would actually do this. There is one guy who hits on Katniss all the time, and he’s one of the youngest and strongest competitors. Everyone is training for the Games when Katniss and Peeta break out their plan to make alliances so they have a better chance to win. That’s as far as I’ve gotten. So, I think it’s really weird that Katniss and Peeta end up having to play in the Games back to back years. I realized that the Capitol is just a bunch of jerks making all of these people go through worse emotional trauma. Just like the way Gladiators used to have to do; just for peoples’ pleasure. Michael Vick and his dog fighting relates to this very well because he had a lot of money and just had to have more pleasure by dog fighting; the Capitol is already feared and has a lot of money, but they still need more pleasure by making people die every year. Just like the people in our country…they are greedy. The districts are about to overthrow the Capitol, and corruption will soon be introduced to our government if they don’t stop being greedy. Book: Travel Team
The author’s purpose is to explain to the reader the size of Danny and how much he enjoys the game of basketball. In the book, Danny has known since the day he was born how small he is. Danny is the smallest one out on the court and realizes it, but he is also the fastest and best passer too. Even better than Ty Ross, who was the better person at any sport and any activity. Whether too dark, not eaten yet, or not finished homework yet, whatever it is, Danny is always practicing basketball. The author’s main purpose is to explain Danny’s powers and weaknesses, and the real person who Danny is.
The summary about this book (so far) is about a kid who is tiny for his age and knows it, but knowing the real truth doesnt stop him from trying and thinking that he will fail. Danny (the boy) steps up for his own self and doesnt let his size get in his way of playing the game of basketball, and is actually better than most players who play. Danny practices every night and sets up chairs, acting like they are opponents trying to steal the ball from him. Danny is trying to succeed the double crossover and tries and tries. He never gives up and keeps trying and trying to accomplish whatever it is he wants to do. Danny has faith and believes that he can do whatever he believes in if only he tries now matter his size or strength.
The book relates to another book i have read before, Jay Barker, because of course, both books talk about sports. In the book i am reading now, Danny doesnt care what people think about him, how old they think he is because of his size or anything like that. He believes in himself, practices 24-7, and puts hard work into basketball and keeps trying and trying. Same thing in Jay Barker. In Jay Barker, Jay practices whenever he has the chance too. He also believes in himself and especially God too and tries and tries. Both books are similar because the protagonists in the books never give up.

I’m back, and I hope this is where we blog 😛 Being sick bites, but i read a lot!!!! I’m reading A Ranger Born about a guy named Robert W. Black, who lived throu WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, and, oddly enough, worked alongside my grandfather in all 3! Anyway, he starts out like any other person, being born (duh!) Skipping ahead to 1929, he started school. Being a city slicker was a bad thing in this rural school, where the ultimate wealth was……. wait for it……. tractors! (And i thought Alabama was redneck!) Anyway, Rob was picked on a lot. Then as puberty progressed, he started noticing girls. Then one day, he was listening to the radio, more speci, spicif, specificly (big words hurt my brain :P), Green Eye, when reports about Pearl Harbor came in. He didn’t know anything about Pearl Harbor, but the adults were crying, so he did too. Later, as we were mobilizing (I USED A BIG WORD!!!) and while he was collecting trash to be recycled, he was hunting with one of the many guns in his house (according to him, they had more guns than a Nazi rifle squad.). It describes the chores in the farm he had moved to before school, the scare of Nazi bombings, and rationing. Thats all, for now.
otay, stopped when…. um……. oh yeah, they were scared of being bombed, and they were rationing food, and the chores, and puberty…….. anyway, rob joins the army, and gets his first assignment, Barracks Guard (cleaning time ;)), but then progressed to Kitchen Police(cleaning 8)), Ash & Trash(SURPRISE!!! cleaning!!!!!), and Night Fireman (fire watching). Uhh, guess i’ll do author’s purpose. Author’s purpuse : information!!!!! Very descriptive, not exactly kid friendly, but very descriptive…………..

I started it this weak. I love the chararacter lola because she beleives almost every lie she tells. Or takes it as the truth. there are several conflicts so far… Lola vs family, Lola vs the ending of the band sidarther, lola vs Carla Santini, the meanist girl in school. Lola loves to make up storys. the killed off both her fathers in a lie. changed her name to Lola when it’s Mary… she goes crazy. She’s also in the Allusion that every thing is a show. She says she trying to recreate herself at her new school. Because she lived in New York. they moved to New Jersey. She hates it. she already changed the name of her street to deadwood. What is she going to do next?

well im still on the same book airman. once there was a guy named bob who always had a great time but then was asighned a partner girl tht was always naging him about how she would hang him. well then they went in a house to play pirates and then a wick suddenly cought on fire and started to leed tward some clamores across the room. well the bob hurried getin his friend and running out the dooor. and he was fast too. well then the whole house exploded and these thiefs just happened to be riding by at the time. then all the suden swoop they swept the kids up and stared riding to who knows where. (2 hours later) swoop they were flung out the bag onto a hard ground to wht seemed to be a consentration camp dun dun dunnnnn to be continued…
im reading the harry potter series harry is at uncle vernons house and just got a note from the weaslys asking if harry could come to a quitich championship and they had thought they might not have anought stamps but they did and uncle vernon at first said no but then harry threatened him saying he would write to serous black and that changed his mind and that is all i read tonight i will blof again tomorrow
lets see a book i could compare this one to ummm o i know well it aint really a book bbut a historical event when all those jews were put in consentration camps well thts exacty wht happened to this dood and girl. they all started out havin fun now they didnt blow anythin up in the jew thing but on this book they blew up the buildin on accident theb all the sudden they were snatched up and threw into a carriage and then threw in a concentration camp
lets see authours purpose. well id say tht the authours purpose is that either one of two things or both. umm life might be bad as u know and if u keep bringin ure self down about it … its only going to get worse if u dont embrace and exite about it. another thing is even know times have been bad before and just got worse… never give up on wht u believe in and thts flying. u can always keep on ure inventions and maybe eve escape by them making u a hero. now get out there and make the best of ure life.
