so after almost a year, 51 weeks to be exact, it’s time to back to montevallo for a writing festival – looking forward to my visit friday – i’m sure UM will roll out the red carpet – even though it’ll get rained on (it always rains, it seems…)
“hatchet” by gary paulsen – i know, “it took you long enough to get around to that book” – and you’re right – sorry that i waited so long to read a book that 90 percent of the youth of america read by the time they’re 18 – in my defense, it wasn’t that great so i wasn’t missing anything – it at least was a quick read – i did guess correctly that something had to happen to paul before it got to be fall in canada – because no one was going to survive cooler weather – oh, and i did guess too that the emergency kit would’ve come into play (if i’m ever lost in a plane, look for me walking back – my odds would’ve been better running/walking to help vs. staying in one spot for 50-plus days like paul)
“the walk” by shaun alexandar – i’m biased b/c i graduated the year that shaun did at bama, and i was a bama guy and went to FCA when he was there – but i did enjoy the book – basically, a short, practical, guide to living out the Christian life – probably what stood out most was a comment shaun’s wife had about him – that was true of me – that he loses 75 percent of people that he has a chance to witness to
“heroes among us” by jim ryun and sons – book about men and women who made a difference in world history because they took their faith to logical conclusions – it was a great, encouraging read – very inspiring story about a catholic priest that went and lived among the leper colony in hawaii in the 1870s – he was the only minister of any faith to do so – he went willingly and he eventually contracted leprosy and died of the disease – good story about what you’d be willing to die for if you truly believe something
guess those are the books – of course, there were other odds and ends but those are odds and ends – do hope your reading is going well – two weeks and then finals – hang in there

hey. im on the hunger games and im excited because this is the first time i have done this on my phone so i can do it on the bus. ok so i left off on the hunger games as katniss’ prep team and her came to the dinner table for a incredibley good meal of lamb stew with dried plums. When they were half way through the meal katniss saw a girl she recognized from some where but couldnt really think of where. Katniss asked her, since she was a waiter at the table, where she knew her from but the girl just shook her head. Everyone at the table looked at her weirdly and the told katniss that the girl was an Avox which means they have done a crime and they cut out your tongue and you are forced to work for the capitol. that is why the avox girl didnt talk. but katniss knew she had seen her before then she rememberes but she didnt say it out loud. because it might get her in trouble. She just finished her meal and went up to her room.
I’m reading The Red Pyramid for b.o.b. and you didn’t miss anything in Hatchet for all those years, I didn’t like it very much either.
Monday-
In chapters 31-33 of The Red Pyramid, Sadie wakes up from her concussion that Serquet the crocodile gave her from slamming her onto the ground. Khufu gives her a concoction that Sadie dubs as baboon medicine. Sadie falls asleep and she grows into her ba form but she is as tall as the Washington Monument. She gives the note that Nut told her to give to Geb. The Earth god opens the letter and fireworks burst out and create a new constellation in the sky of Nut’s face. That is my journal for Monday.

Nikki goes to school at Westchester Country Day.as a middle schooler, a lot of people have cell phones.but nikki is the only girl in the entire school who does not have a cell phone. so when she looked on ebay she could not beat the price of 12.99 for a phone. but it ends up that her phone is one of those pay phones that you use to call someone when you dont have a phone or that you just need to call someone right away but the closest phone near you is that nasty pay phone in the corner of the bus stop.but anyway, that is only how the story begins.the biggest thing in her life to her is Brandon roberts. a really cute boy that she likes.
Hey i am on the hunger games. I left off as katniss sees the avox girl who cant talk and she remembers who she is. she doesnt say anything about how she saw her. she was afraid she would get her in trouble. Katniss excuses herself from the table and goes upstairs to her room. When she gets to her room she hears peeta knocking on the door. He asks if she wants to go to the roof and talk.He probally wants to know about how she knows the girl. He leads her up some stairs where their is a greenhouse and u can hear the cars honking below. They walk over to the ledge and katniss starts explaining. it happened a while ago and gale and her were hunting in the woods. out of no where they hear footsteps running towards them. they look up and see 2 kids running towards. there was a boy and that avox girl. they were relly sore and tire. They saw them in the tree and they mouthed the words help. Right after she said that, a hovercraft showed up above and it shot a spear and hit the boy. it killed him.
I had another Wonderful day.. I think part of it was when I got on the bus.. Daniel Creekmore TRIED to Braid my hair.. It didnt really work and he ended up tying my hair in a knot. So now I know to never Let Daniel Braid my hair… Or any guy for that matter. Daniel is…… Strange to say the least. I didnt blog Yesterday because…… I was doing nothing. But today that means I get to blog for ten whole minutes… And me being as awesome as I am… is not going to Summarize what she read in the Dawn Treader.. Ooooo Thats right, I am doing something different. I am going to change the point of view.. So now we will see everything from Eustace’s Perspective. I dont even like Eustace he complains too much so this will be fun. So just to catch you up real quick Caspian and his men left Doorn and they are now on the Dawn Treader and they have been there for several days and Eustace doesnt like it.
Ughhh, We have been on this blasted ship for almost a week now. Everyone smells bad and do people believe in bathrooms out here? I dont even get a room to myself. I have to share a room with big men with lots of hair. Since there is nothing to do on this terrible ship, I have resulted to writing in my journal. But sadly there are only a few pages left and then what will I do. Everyone seems to have it together and know exactly what they’re doing but I am freaking out. Lucy and Edmund Used to be kings and queens That is such a strange game they try and play with me. This strange land.. I hope is just a dream I keep hoping I will wake up any minute now but I cant seem to do that… And if this is a dream it seems much too real. This is more a nightmare. There is a mouse or rat that is huge unlike anything I have ever seen before.. His name is Reepicheep. I hate him and we never get along. He likes to torment me… (Much like Mr. Mayfield torments a girl named Julie) This mouse takes all my belongings and likes to try and fight me. I decide to pull a prank on him.. He is sitting on a bunk and I grab his tail and pull it as hard as I can.. UH OH! He doesnt like that one bit. He runs to Caspian’s Bed Chamber and I follow close behind. This rat is yelling at me.. Never in my life did I think I would EVER have a rat yelling at me..

Tuesday-
In The Red Pyramid, They defeat the hunter that was following them by making her drink a giant tank full of hot salsa and she then passes out and turns into her other form, the cow goddess. Carter and Sadie put her back into the Duat and then borrow a truck and drive to Phoenix. Carter enchants his coat to drive them there and Sadie climbs into the back so that Carter and Zia can talk. They find Amos and he also gets into the truck. As the group gets closer and closer to Camelback Mountain and Set’s Pyramid, The storm gets worse.

hey mr mayfeild i will blog ten minutes tonight sorry i didnt blog yesterday i had baseball. our first practice was good. well anyways im going to blog on the point of veiw from jack the dog from the book the last dog on earth. well i left off reading about the email that i need help. So the dog stays outside all day unleashed. “i shure hope that one of those great danes come by again” the dog thought to himself. “They were mean and cranky.” But if they do come by today and makefun of me i will beat them up untill they cry and say im sorry have mercy on me. Later in the day the great danes came trotting down the streets. they dont see jack because he went under the porch when he saw them. thats it for tonight ill blog again thursday.

Wednesday-
In Bloody Jack, Jacky is written into the record of the HMS Dolphin, a British king’s ship. She meets some others named Davy, Tink, Willy, Jaimy, and Benjy. They get in trouble on inspection day and are blasted with a water gun and they have to use carbolic soap to get rid of lice.Dauy says that he can split a line but he lies and they later discover that he can’t even split small one. Jacky worries that she will be discovered and thrown off the ship for being a girl.That is my journal for Wednesday.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Mr. Mayfield! Guess what? I’m blogging! That’s right! The Blogger is back. Well for now. 🙂 I have some things to catch you up on! But All I have to say for now is IT’S GOOD TO BE BACK!!!!! So tonight I am going to blog for 10 minutes. Have fun reading what I blog because I know how much you missed me blogging. (Part of the fact is that you ACTUALLY said and I quote ” Cailea. I really really miss you blogging!”) Okay, so here it goes.
Man! I really wanted to blog last week because I knew Exactly what I was going to say. But now I have forgotten. 🙁 So I guess I’ll just do the best I can to make this something that will actually want to be read. Okay now, well Edward has FINALLY taken Bella to let her see him in the light. (One of the dumbest parts in the movie to me) And he’s all sparkly and purty. Then while they are out, Edward starts telling Bella the ENTIRE story on why he had left for so long when she had come to school that day and she had to sit by him. -Bella had to sit by Edward, just for those of you who aren’t following- He tells her that when she had walked by him on that first day, that he would have ruined everything that Carlisle- the foster dad- had built for the Cullens. Then he told her that he just had to leave so that he wouldn’t have to worry about taking that chance. So he goes on with his story that is almost pointless to tell you about……. but then he gets on to the part of the story where Bella was about to get crushed by the truck, and tells her the REAL reason on why he saved her from being crushed.
Well okie dokie then! That sadly but shurley was 10 minutes. 🙂 And like I said before, it’s good to be blogging again! See you and I’ll try my very best to blog AGAIN tomorrow! 🙂

I’m gonna VLOG now. That does sound cooler. I’m going to SLOG, FLOG, JOG, DOG. So entertaining.
Okay, so I am Number Four. I have so much stuff to do that haven’t been reading like I want too.
Mon.- So we left off where we meet Sarah, who ends up having a very colorful vocabulary. Anyway, Mark, Sarah’s old boyfriend, is watching John now because he doesn’t like other guys hanging out with Sarah. Cause apparently he still likes her. (Typical drama *boring*) So he’s in his first class and he’s walking to his seat and Mark trips him (Oh NO!) so he gets up and he’s all like ‘Why’d you trip me?’
Tues.- Mark ends up taking Mark’s phone and he gets it back because Sarah steals it from Mark so they won’t get in a fight. Oh, forgot to mention that he gets his first Legacy in class. His hands start burning and they become all lighted up *shiny*. So he runs into this photography classroom and Henri finds him freaking out and he feels real weak.
Wed.- He is now all excited about his legacy because his hands have become fireproof, and eventually his whole body will. But for now, his hands are completely protected. Not really sure why you need fireproof hands, but hey, maybe one day they will come in handy. So he goes back to school and I forgot to mention Sam, this kid he befriended. Sam is kind of dorky. You know- the typical Nathan, TREY, Landon, Daniel dork.
Thurs.- He is sitting at lunch and Sam is sitting in front of him and all the sudden a meatball is thrown at Sam and that ticks John off so John gets up and knees a guy and then they all get sent to the principal’s office and the guy who got kneed (Kevin) and Mark get sent away. Then Sam and John leave and John gets to open his Legacy box.
Alright, I’m tired and going to sleep. Hope ya’ll have a great rest-of-the-week. Can’t wait for Write in the Middle!

Hey i am on the hunger games. I left off as she climbed down from the roof after telling peeta her story about the avox girl. she then goes to and prepares for the day tommorrow where they will train.The next day they got ready and ate breakfast. they got to the elevator and went to the bottom floor. This is where they would get there first upclose look at their competition. When they get their they look around at tgheir competition. Ammediatley the bigger kids or the careers go for the weapons. but peeta and katniss hav conducted a strategy to learn more on survival so they would last longer. They first go to camoflauge which turns out that peeta is really good at because of his time decorating cakes. They then spot the youngest girl there whos name is Rue. While they are at the trap setting section they spot her looking at them.

Dear mr mayfield,
Every week i try to find one specific thing to write about….and well i finall yfound out what this week is goikng to be about and it is…
Men are aways compared to things but are they always accurate no!!!,but i have finally found onr that i know for a fact that is true and i can say that i know that is true because i am a guy. And that is a scalple and the reason that i would say that that is accurate is because we are we can save lives and we can take them away but either way it is not going to help to dull us down. when you are dulled down the no matter what you do you are bound to mess something up or tear something up. But that is one of the most accurate accusations that anyone coul;d make about a man but it could actually stand for a women also.
whoops sorry about that i accidently hit the send buuton before i could get finished. but all that i was going to say was that all of the saying that i have heard i acually would rather be called that instaed of anything else that i have heard in my life time well that is all that i have for this week talk to you tomorrow bbbyyyeeee!!!!

1. I dont have to go to school and do.. WORK.
2. I get to go to the University of Monetvallo for Write in the Middle.

Ok, Well because I am totally Awesome.. (Not that I’m Bragging) I changed the Point Of View the last time I VLOGGED! Which is something I never ever ever ever do. So the Point of View was changed to Eustace’s but sadly, I am not as Awesome today.. So I am just going to Summarize what I have read.. Jeez.. I need to stop talking tooo much.. :0
Right now, They are heading to other parts of the lone islands. They have left Doorn and are now out to sea. It was pretty boring for a while but it has gotten more exciting. I guess being out to sea where NOTHING is happening is pretty boring for the Characters and the Readers. 🙂 So now a Storm has come which makes it more interesting. Its a bad storm that goes on for eleven days. Lucy was walking on the top of the ship when she noticed that it started to rain and pretty soon they were right in the middle of a big storm. The waves crash over to the side of the boat and men start falling overboard.. (My Solution to this problem would be to get a new boat) The Dawn Treader is a pretty small ship.. So the waves were sort of like Tsunamis to the people on the boat. Luckily the ship didnt break. But it was all hands on deck for all those days, to keep the boat up.
PHEWWWW! I am ready for Write in the Middle. Well I have to go now, So Bye -Julie.
P.S. Only St.Kaitlin will understand this but.. I ate three bananas today and my mom bought me some for Monday. I am the BANANA QUEEN.

Thursday-
In Blloody Jack, Jacky goes onto the ship and she has to sleep in a pile of blankets which us better than what she noemally sleeps in in London. They all come from the same place, that is the ship’s boys. She goes on to descrobe the watches of the ship and the midshipman. She talks about the officers and which ones she is aloud to say something to. She is told that she has to memorize a paragraph describing the Dolphin and its naval status. They go out looking for pirates. That is all.

Hey, song of today is sympathy for the devil by the rolling stones (ironic, it the end song to black ops, which was about vietnam) found the complete idiots guide to the vietnam war (low self esteem! yay!) author’s purpose is to inform (or entertain, depending on your nerd level), and it starts out explaining boring things about politicians fighting in, protesting against, or avoiding ‘nam. eventually we get to the french invasion of nam, where curfews against the natives were enforced, along with other invasions of citizens rights. ho chi minh, leader of anti french resistance, was regarded as a communist agitator, puppet, and a bad guy. vietnam was basically a farm/mountain/swamp, not really useful to anybody (but the french like land, i guess). america view it differently, due to buddhists, french influenced informers, vietnamese, and ambitous military personnel. most americans viewed it as ‘if it looks communist, smells communist, and says its communist, its communist.’ vietnam was ‘communist’, but behaved democratically. washington viewed it not as a commie threat, but as a strategic military base. they figured it was no big deal to march in and siege it. after all, this was ww2 backwash, making america feel bulletproof. they said they would win the little scuff of vietnam. they were wrong. (side note, vietnam was a war, but technically, america never declared war on either side of nam. do NOT say this to any veteran of this ‘police action.’) in fact, quoting john foster dulles, ”saigon could be a detroit suburb.” Woooops. The main reason France wanted nam is because england a colony in hong kong and could easily get china, and france, knowing vietnam shares a border with china, needed a good settlement. vietnam proved to be absolutley worthless, without oil, coal, or any other resource. eventually, britan and france met, armed to the frontal cortex lobe, in fashoda, dudan, south africa. war was almost declared, but cool heads in london and paris prevailed. here, russia, japan, and the good ol’ us of a enter the race, wanting a shot at an empire. Britan, seeing a large amount of useless violence, dropped out with france, france seeing no way out with profit. gtg, see ya, peace, smoosh, other generic words for goodbye.

monday(the day everybody hates): the ship lands and the crew strips it of every thing it has. weapons ammo food and even wine. they start heading to a place the other marines have captured called alpha base. one of the crew men says they should give up so they tie her to a tree.
tuesday: the covenant find her and use her as an ally. she helps the aliens find captain keyes. once they find him and his crew the aliens kill everyone except captain keyes.(even the girl who surrendered). the chief finds out about them capturing the captain so he plans a mission to go save him.
wednesday: the master chief gets dropped off with alot of odst troopers( the book nicknames them helljumpers) at the aliens base. odst troops jump from outerspace in special pods.when they land they try to get stuck in trees so the enemy doesnt find them. they land and the masterchief uses his sniper to kill a bunch of aliens. thats when the fighting starts.
thursday: they are met by hunters giant aliens with armor that covers thier whole body except for the back. the chief already kills two and then kills the rest. he goes inside without the odsts to find captain keyes. he goes into the room keyes is in and aliens in cloaking devises start to shoot at him. he kills them and bring captain keyes home.
so you ended up having about as many blogs as you do halfway though the week ill make the 18th post this week. i told you i could count sometimes. any ways im startin a new book it was recamended by some of my freinds. i will blog ten minutes on authors purpose on the book amung the hidden.this is a seris and the first book. i think that the author included this part. his mother called out the window for luke to come inside because many moms are always too busy to walk outside and drag him in. i think that the author included this part he could barly walk thourgh the tall grass because he wasnt rich enough to buy a lawn mower. i think that the author included this part as soon as they started taking the woods down because he had woods taken from him when he was a kid. thats it for tonight and this week.

Alrighty so like i I said yesterday, ummm, oh yes, I was at the point of the book where Edward tells Bella the REAL reason on why he had saved her that day from being crushed by the truck. So the ACTUAL reason was because if she would have been crushed by the truck and her blood was EVERYWHERE while he was in the parking lot too, then of course you know what would have happened since he is a vampire. But if nobody understands me, I mean that he would have gone sort of crazy and would have revealed what he really is……. a vampire. So that answers that question. Then he goes into this like really boring detailonwhy he just wouldn’t be able to live without her and a bunch of mumbo jumbo like that. And that is about as far as I have gotten in the book.
Well that was like Absolutely perfect Timing!!!!! My timer just went off! 🙂 So there ya go! I have blogged for 10 minutes and I’m proud. Plus blogging is wayyyyyyyy more fun than journals! Guess I’ll blog back next week. byee

This week I’m blogging about The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman. It is by Brian Jaques, the author of the Redwall series. Anywho, I know that he wrote this to entertain the reader. I pretty sure anyways. I think he wrote this to entertain, but he used facts about the countries and myths of the Flying Dutchman to an advantage, because he twists it to a new point of view of a never-before-heard-of-character. At the same time though he creates the image a huge ship where the boy is put in the galley.
Tuesday
Wondering what would have happened if Neb (the boy in Castaways of the Flying Dutchman) would have escaped in Denmark?
My guess is that he would have found the black lab and went to a bench and hid until the pirates were gone. Then he would have made a home and been one of those beggars who sits on the corner of the block in New York. Or maybeif he didn’t like the dog anymore … sell the poor black lab. I mean that’s what I would have to do if I were him, but I’m not so that is all his discision. That is what I think would have happened to Neb if he escaped the ship in Denmark.
Wednesday
After a lot of thought The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman is like the beginning of Peter and the Starcatchers. They both have characters get on ships. Neb got on because he was running from his stepbrothers and one of them hit him and he fell into the ice cold water, then all of a sudden a stringy rope hits his head and he uses all his strength to climb onboard. In the other book orphans get onboard because the are forced to be slaves to an evil king overseas. Well, I mean, they have \the same ideas just different plots.
Thursday
So far the captain of the Flying Dutchmanis making a deal with a chinease merchant who is offering FOUR emeralds for him to deliver emeralds to other high-payng people. On another POV a boy is running from his stepbrothers and runs into a dead-end. His stepbrothers or the ocean?!?!?!?!?!? Which is worse?!?!?!? Well, he doesn’t have a choice because one of his stepbrothers cuffs (hits) him in the jaw and falls into the freezing cold ocean shivering and alone.
