i like long walks on the beach shore while mardi gras parades get started:)

so i’m operating on runner’s brain – i raced in mobile today – so there’s really no guessing what i’ll say or write – in fact, i can’t even remember the second book i read this week – but two is plenty to write on anyway…

“the other normals” by vizzini – new YA book – i’ve read others from vizzini – and with a movie based on one of his books, i thought it was cool that i found him before others – that said, i really didn’t enjoy this book at all – i’m sure there are high school kids who will – it wouldn’t surprise me to see this as a high school BOB next year – but i couldn’t get into the two worlds that were interrelated – and yet ever changing – sort of like a comic book alterworld – except in this book, the main character’s fascination with grid games disappeared – that all said, it did get me through some rough patches of boring south alabama driving:)

“road to 14” or something like that – tommy ford wrote this – with help from the excellent photo work of kent gidley – these books are in walmart now – just in time, i got the book monday, for bama to win 15 – the photos were amazing though – and the recap of the 2011 season was great – i read the book, of course, in a night (love me some sports books:)

“the runner’s body” – aha!!! i knew i would remember that third book – a scientific approach to running – like, what running actually does to the body (thus, the name) – it’s my second time to read it –  i think three more times and i might understand some of the sci terms – that said, it’s a narcissistic pleasure, but i do love reading about what i enjoy doing – so i enjoyed the reread

see you monday

  1. I’m reading THE POSTCARD and I like it a lot. It’s about this boy who lives in Boston and his grandmother dies so he has to move down to Florida with his dad. The protagonist isthe boy who is named either mason or jason, I can’t remember. So he is in Florida, and he discovers that his grandfather didn’t exist and his great grandfather owned a huge hotel. And was very right h. Well that’s all for now bye

  2. Hi, I’m really just blogging cause I’m bored and wmated to be the first one to blog. Beat that Billy! So yeah, uh bye.

  4. So yesterday I was listening to some random song on Pandora (it’s a music app) and I was thinking about pirates. I mean, I bet you that no real pirate ever said, “AARGG me booty.” Poor stereotyped pirates. 🙁
    Well, I just realized that I have already blogged for Monday (yesterday I did, I guess) so I guess that is all, I would do the blog for Tuesday but Fred just walked by and said we weren’t supposed to blog for homework. (I’m in the library) So, I am confused that I will jack something up here, so I will just go work on something else.
    Bye!!! Anna, AKA annabacon. 🙂

  5. BOOK: The Hobbit
    PROMPT: Creative
    SIDE NOTES: My website is getting an update and, AnnMarie, you didn’t get first blog, Anna did, well acatully the first THREE blogs. Yes, I know that I misspelled a word, it’s spelling slipped my mind. Oh, this is my first time blogging for the library.

    Creative:
    So, as you now know, our trenches were dangerous, so we rarely ever entered them, (they never really worked for protection anyway) and, thus, we had to tough it out, though it was simple enough to protect our selves, in order to do that we had to work, yes, work. We would dig before and after battles, so as if the “Rips,” as we called them, broke, we would have somewhere safe to be, though these didn’t last as long. We though they were more humanie, anyway.
    I never liked my captin. He never liked me, either, but I never thought he would betray us to the enemy. Around when he did, he was acting strange, like the why-did-I-do-that strange.

  6. whazzup, peoples? i decided to hit the blogs early so i could get them done faster.

    not that i don’t like blogging or anything……. 🙂

    and yes, before you even ask, i am still reading GONE. it’s long, but i will finish it soon. i don’t want to finish it too fast, though. i want to enjoy it while i can. nothing changed, really. all that happened is there was a short earthquake, and the church pew fell and landed on somebody. Sam and Astrid were inside the church building trying to orginize a party that could help get phone lines and computers back up.

    these really “sophisticated” kids from a place called COATS Academy came to try to “help” the kids of the perdido beach area.

    i don’t think i said this in any of my earlier blogs, but earlier, someone came up with a name since there were no adults in the perdido beach area and the rest of the kids were surrounded by a barrier, they call it FAYZ (fallout alley youth zone).

    it’s a really interesting book so far. i encourage any of you who love a good thrill once and a while to read this book, becuase it really kicks into your emotions. there are some parts i enjoyed so much, i began to CRY! yeah, the book is that good. it’s like there’s a new thrill around every page you turn. those of you who love reading thrill, adventure, or mystery books would love this book.

    well, i gotta go. the bell just rang. i’ll do my creative prompt tomorrow!!

    😀

  8. AGHHHHHHH!!!!! Billy, me and you BOTH weren’t the first to blog!!!! ANNA WAS!!!!!

  9. Ok, what’s up peoples? I’m gonna do my normal blog then type my monologue from Hamlet so I can memorize it better, it might help.

    People say if you love someone let them go,
    sometimes I think their just lying to keep you happy.
    When you let someone go its very hard to get going on,
    sometimes you feel like dirt,
    other time you just want to drop dead.
    So here’s what I’m going to tell you,
    when someone want s to leave you,
    let them,
    when they want you back don’t take them back,
    will power.
    f they are the one that left you in the first place,
    then they don’t deserve you now after you had to go though the pain.

    ^
    I don’t know, guess I felt sad or something.

    Ok here’s:
    Play- Hamlet
    Speaker- Hamlet
    Pg- 153 (I think)

    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and the arrows of the outrageous fortune,
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
    And by opposing end them.
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end
    The heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
    That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation
    Devoutly to be wish’d. To die; to sleep;
    To sleep: perchance to dream: ay there’s the rub;

    (bonus)

    For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
    When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
    Must give us pause: there’s the respect
    That makes calamity of so long life;
    For who would bar the whips and scorns of time,
    The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,
    The pangs of despised love, the law’s delay,

    ^
    Ok, that’s all.

    Bye

  10. okay, sad thing is that this is what i’m memorizing this week (sad b/c it’s short)

    ezekiel 34:23 – “and I will set up for them a shepherd, my servant david, and he shall feed them, he shall feed them and be their shepherd.”

    yes, i aim high in weekly memorization:)

    maf

  11. cool mr. maf. i am reading psalm in my bible. not memorizing more than my shakespeare though. 🙂

    ok creative for monday

    when the daylight creeps in
    the night slowly vanishes.
    where does it go?
    It goes to another place, the other side of the world.
    It pulls the blanket of daylight over us.
    It weaves its way through the trees
    to cover the sky in darkness on the other side of the world.
    but the day comes to end,
    nighttime weaves its way back,
    pulls the daylight blanket over the other side of the world.

    creative for tues.- monday story sequel

    in the daytime, the sun takes the sleepy moon’s place.
    The warm, rested ball of gas
    wakes up half of the world.
    the other half rests their eyes
    while the moon jumps into place.
    The sun is brightly warming us
    while the moon is a-glow for the other side of the world.
    Then the sun grows tired and is soon replaced
    by the moon ready to glow for us on this side of the world.
    The sun is ready to glow for the other side.

  12. Ok, I’m going type what I remember from the monologue. then type the whole ten lines together.

    what I remember:
    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them.
    To die: to sleep; no more;

    ^
    that’s 5 1/2 lines

    Now heres all of it (10 lines):
    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end
    The heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
    That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation
    Devoutly to be wish’d. To die; to sleep
    To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub;

    ^
    yep that’s all.

    now lets see what I can remember:

    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end

    What im going to do is type the 6 lines over and over again until its easy peasy them=n ill add the 7th line:

    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end

    The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end

    (now adding 7th line)

    The flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation

    To be, or not to be: that is the question:
    Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrow or outrageous fortune
    Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
    And by opposing end them
    To die: to sleep; no more; and by a sleep to say we end

    To Earthward
    by Robert Frost

    Love at the lips was touch
    As sweet as I could bear;
    And once that seemed too much;
    I lived on air

    That crossed me from sweet things,
    The flow of–was it musk
    From hidden grapevine springs
    Downhill at dusk?

    I had the swirl and ache
    From sprays of honeysuckle
    That when they’re gathered shake
    Dew on the knuckle.

    I craved strong sweets, but those
    Seemed strong when I was young;
    The petal of the rose
    It was that stung.

    Now no joy but lacks salt,
    That is not dashed with pain
    And weariness and fault;
    I crave the stain

    Of tears, the aftermark
    Of almost too much love,
    The sweet of bitter bark
    And burning clove.

    When stiff and sore and scarred
    I take away my hand
    From leaning on it hard
    In grass and sand,

    The hurt is not enough:
    I long for weight and strength
    To feel the earth as rough
    To all my length.
