Students continued taking notes on The Mole and how to convert mass or particles to Moles and vice versa. Then, we learned the concept of Percent by Mass of the elements in a compound. After the discussion, students completed the Percent Composition of elements in a compound by mass.

The Mole
Students learned how to convert moles of a compound to the mass of a compound and vice versa. After working two practice problems, students completed the Mass of Compound to Moles of compound/elements WS (30 pt).
The Mole
Students learned how to determine the moles of a compound from the chemical formulas and use them to form molar ratios, which will be used to find the molar mass of compounds.
The Mole
Students completed the Mass to Atoms WS (30 pts) in class and we began to cover the topic of moles of compounds and how to determine molar ratio from formulas. The Seniors got their Review Guides for their Semester Exams.
The Mole
Students completed the Mole to Mass WS (30 pts) and the Mass to Particles WS (30 pts) in class. Still using conversion factors and the concepts of how many particles are in a certain mass of an element or compound.
Moles
Students complete the mole to mass and vice versa practice problems and worksheets (30 pts) in class. They should now be able to explain the mole concept and convert from moles to mass and particles and vice versa.
The Mole
We began by introducing the mole and Avogadro's number and how it relates to Chemistry. Then, we started converting from particles/ions to moles and vice versa using conversion factors. We then worked on the Moles to Particles WS (30 pt) for homework.
Chemical Reactions/Moles
Students completed the Data and discussions with their partners to complete the Chemical Reactions Lab. Upon completion of the Questions and Lab, students began the Mole Review Questions (60 pt)
Chemical Reactions
Students continued with the lab on types of chemical reactions. We concluded the final day with double replacement reactions and their data analysis as they answered the questions by writing and balancing the equations and answering the questions from the lab sheet.
Chemical Reactions
Students began day 2 of the Chemical Reactions Lab where we learn about Decomposition Reactions and Single Replacement Reactions in the Lab. The ability to write correct chemical formulas and equations as well as balancing those equations is important.
