Students first completed the types of chemical reactions notes covering the double replacement reactions. Then, we observed the podcast on balancing chemical equations. After balancing chemical equations in practice, we took a short test on Types of Chemical Reactions WS (22 pts). Then, we completed the Identifying and Balancing Chemical Reactions WS (36 pts).

Chemical Reactions
Today we observed a PowerPoint on Chemical Equations and how to balance them using coefficients. We reviewed Counting atoms w/polyatomic ions prior to the podcast. Then, we observed a Podcast on balancing equations and began to balance equations.
Chemical Rections
Students read and completed the Chemical Reactions Review Questions (60 pts) in class.
Covalent Bonding
Students conducted the Molecular Geometry Lab (50 pts). Then, had the Chemical Reactions Voc. (44 pt) for homework.
Covalent Compounds
Students took the Covalent Compounds Voc. Test (48 pts) and Covalent Chapter Test (100 pt) in class.
Covalent Compounds
We concluded the Covalent Compound notes from the PowerPoint and were assigned the Writing Chemical Formulas Combined (50 pts) and Naming Chemical Formulas Combined (50 pt) for homework/classwork. They will have the Covalent Compounds Voc Test and Chapter Test on Friday.
Covalent Bonding
Students continued taking notes on "Covalent Bonding". Topics covered were, exceptions to the stable octet rule and reasons, VSEPR and the theory behind it. They were reminded of the Vocabulary Test to be on Thursday and Chapter Test on Friday.
Covalent Compounds
Students continued notes from the PowerPoint on learning how to name acids, oxyacids and how to write formulas for both. Class ended with worksheets on Naming Acids (50 pts) and Writing Acid Formulas (50 pts)
Covalent Bond
Students continued notes on properties of covalent bonds and the difference in sigma and pi bonds. We also covered the nomenclature of covalent bonds and how to write covalent formulas. They watched a podcast on the rules of covalent nomenclature and then completed a "Naming Covalent Compounds" WS (50 pts) and "Writing Covalent Formulas" WS (50 pts) for homework. Covalent Bonds length, strength and dissociation energy were concepts covered also.
Covalent Bonds
Students turned in the Covalent Bonds RQ (70 pt) and we began the PowerPoint on Covalent Bonding. We began by discussing the differences in covalent & ionic bonds, bond dissociation energy, diatomic molecules and why atoms bond.
