Students completed the "Periodic Table and Periodic Law" Voc. Test (50 pts). After finishing the test, they began the Chapter Assessment (92 pts) on the same concepts for classwork/homework. They will have the "Periodic Table and Periodic Law" Chapter Test on tomorrow.

Students learned how to determine electronegativity and how it varies in periods and groups. Ionic radius and ionization energy varies among the groups and periods. They were reminded of the Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Thursday.

We continued discussions on the terms atomic radius, atomic size, ionic radius/size and electronegativity as they related to a group and a period. The information was covered asking students for their opinions w/facts prior to the PowerPoint. We will be having a Vocabulary Test on this information on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Thursday of this week.

Students continued taking notes and discussing information from the PowerPoint on the major blocks of the Periodic Table (s, p, d, f) and groups characteristics. We briefly touched on the term atomic radius.

After introducing the major blocks of the Periodic Table, we went into the major characteristics of each block and how they helped arrange the Periodic Table. We specifically covered groups 1A - 3A and their characteristics chemically.

Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint and discussion on the uses of elements in the characteristics of metals, their locations and how to determine the blocks (s, p, d, and f) using the electron configuration notation studied last chapter.

Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint on the Periodic Table and the Periodic Law. We specifically discussed how to comprehend and understand what we read. We covered the Periodic Law, characteristics of metals and nonmetals and how to located them on the Periodic Table.

Students began the notes and discussion of how the Periodic Table was created and the scientists who contributed to its creation and why they organized it in its way.

Students completed the Periodic Table and Periodic Law Review Questions (60 pts) and we began the notes on the chapter covering the scientists who began the development of the periodic Table.

Students completed The Periodic Table & Periodic Law Voc (32 pts) and began the The Periodic Table & Periodic Law RQ (60 pts).
