We continued talking about the properties of waves as they relate to electrons. We discussed amplitude, frequency, wavelength and speed. We concluded class calculating the speed of various waves on a worksheet (30 pts).

Electrons in Atoms
Students took notes on the "Electrons in Atoms" discussing the problems w/Rutherfords theory and how we view atoms and electrons today. The four properties of waves and how they relate to speed were discussed. The class concluded with the Wave Speed WS (30 pts) for homework.
Electrons in Atoms
Students completed the "Electrons in Atoms" Vocabulary (76 pts) and began the Review Questions for the same chapter (60 pts)
Structure of the Atom
Students took the Structure of the Atom Chapter Test (100 pts) and Began the Electrons in Atoms Vocabulary.
Structure of the Atom
Students completed the Structure of the Atom Chapter Assessment (92 pts) in class. They also worked on the completed information from p. 92 and 95 in the Chemistry textbook. They will have their Structure of the Atom Chapter Test on tomorrow.
Structure of the Atom
Students took the Structure of the Atom Voc. Test (50 pts) in class. Then, they began the same chapters Chapter Assessment (90 pts). They will have the Structure of the Atom Chapter Test on tomorrow.
Radioactive Decay
Students went over the types of radioactive decay and how to differentiate in their types. Then, they were given a Radioactive Decay WS (50 pts). They were also assigned the "Structure of the Atom" Word Search (42 pts) for homework and to prepare for the Voc. Test on tomorrow. They will have the "Structure of Atom Chapter" Test on Thursday.
Structure of the Atom
Today we discussed and continued the PowerPoint on the Structure of the Atom using nuclear reactions, types of radioactive decay and Chemical reactions. Students were advised of the Vocabulary Test on Wednesday when they return. They were assigned the Nuclear Reactions WS (50 pt) for homework.
Atomic Mass/Atomic Number/Mass #
Today we continued discussing the notes on PowerPoint on The Structure of the Atom. We differentiated between atomic mass, atomic number, mass number. We then completed worksheets on "Writing the Symbols for Isotopes"(50 pts) and Naming the Parts of the Atom (45 pts).
Structure of the Atom
We continued the discussion on the scientists and their contributions to the Atomic Theory. We reviewed, Democritus, Aristotle, John Dalton, J. J. Thomson, Earnest Rutherford, Robert Millikan, and James Chadwick. Atomic number, nucleus and mass number are discussed and compared. The structure of the nucleus is revealed.
