Students continued taking notes on the Periodic table and Periodic Law. We specifically discussed the items that appear in each square on the Periodic Table, Groups/Families, Periods, scientists who developed the PT and atomic number, metal & nonmetal characteristics and location on the Periodic Table.

Periodic Table and the Periodic Law
We began the Notes via PPT on the Periodic Table and the Periodic Law. We began talking about the Law of Octaves and the Scientists who began the development of the Periodic Table.
Periodic Table & Periodic Law
Students looked up the key terms in the Periodic Law and Periodic Table Vocabulary (54 pts)
Electrons in Atoms
Students took the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test today. They also began and worked on the Electrons in Atoms Chapter Assessment to prepare for the Chapter Test tomorrow. They were given the opportunity to pick up the 1st 9 Weeks Sem. Exam Review Guide also.
Electron Dot Notation
Students completed the Electron Configuration WS (50 pts) for homework last night and concluded class with the Electron Dot Model WS (40 pts) in class today. The notes from the Powerpoint on Valence Electrons and how to write Electron Dot Models was discussed. They also completed the Electrons in Atoms Crossword Puzzle (40 pts) in preparation for the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test tomorrow.
Electron Configurations
Students completed the notes on Electrons in Atoms by learning the two ways to write electron configurations. Then, we completed the Electron Configurations WS (56 pts). We also learned how to determine Electron Dot Models and completed those WS's. Students will have the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test on Thursday and Chapter Test on Friday.
Quantum Theory
We continued notes on the PowerPoint w/Electrons in Atoms. We went over the shapes of the orbitals, how many orbitals in each energy level, and began talking about the most stable configurations of the atoms using the 3 rules for Electron configurations.
Electrons in Atoms
11-30-17
Students took notes and discussed the theory and reasons why chemists believe light is a wave, then began to discuss the Photoelectric Effect and how light can be a particle.
12-1-17
Students took notes on the Quantum Theory and how it relates to Electrons in Atoms.
Electrons in Atoms
11-27 (Monday)
Students completed the Electrons in Atoms Review Questions (60 pts) in class, and had the Vocabulary (76 pts) for homework.
11-28 (Tuesday)
Students then began taking notes from the Electrons in Atoms PowerPoint discussing the parts of an atom, the problems w/Rutherford's model of the atom and the electromagnetic spectrum. We concluded class discussing the properties of transverse waves (wavelength, frequency, amplitude, and speed)
11-29 (Wednesday)
Students continued taking notes on the properties of waves and how we determine the relationship between frequency and wavelength. We then learned the speed of the members of the electromagnetic spectrum and how it differs from the visible spectrum. Then we had a worksheet on how to calculate wave speed using frequency and c. They had a Wave Speed WS for homework (30 pts)
The Structure of the Atom
Students took the "Structure of the Atom" Vocabulary Test (50 pts) and the Chapter Test (100 pts) today. Have a wonderful, joyous and FULL Thanksgiving. Be sure to be thankful for all that God has blessed you and your family with!!
