Students continued watching, "The Day After" video to observe the effects of radiation. Students were offered their 3rd Qtr Review Guide if they wanted to pick it up.

Radioactivity
After turning in the Radioactivity Review Questions (60 pt) that they had for homework. The classes were introduced to "The Day After". After a brief introduction to the situation under which the film was designed, the circumstances to the Cold War and Cuba, students began to view "The Day After" VHS video. They were given the general expectations and what would they would be expected to experience AND aware of the questions to follow such as main characters, settings, and schemes.

Students took the Thermal Energy Chapter Test (100 pts) and began the Radioactivity Vocabulary (34 pt) for homework.

Students answered a Thermal Energy Crossword Puzzle (38 pt) to begin class, to help them prepare for the Thermal Energy Vocabulary Test (38 pt) and then worked on the Thermal Energy Chapter Review (60 pt). They will have the Thermal Energy Chapter Test on tomorrow.

We concluded the PowerPoint which explain the internal combustion engine and how it uses heat to create a heat engine. We also briefly went over the strokes and how they use heat the engine of a car. We concluded talking about how heat is moved by humans and other appliances. Then, students turned in their Thermal Energy Review Questions (60 pts). They will have the Thermal Energy Voc. Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Wednesday.

We continued and finished the final slides on the transfer and uses of Thermal Energy. Students received the Review Questions (60 pts) to complete on their return to class to Monday. They have had the Review Questions all week to complete.

Students took a short poptest question on Heat Lost/Gained prior to finishing the Heat/Lost Gained WS (50 pt). Then, we continued notes from the PowerPoint on Thermal Energy covering the concepts of methods of Heat Transfer in solids, liquids, and gases.

Students learned what a coolant is used for and how they are used. As well, they learned how to determine the heat lost or gained by a substance. They will finish the Heat Lost/Gained worksheet in class tomorrow.

We began the chapter examining the concepts of thermal energy, heat and heat transfer in states of matter. The notes from the PowerPoint were discussed as they answered the Review Questions during the PowerPoint.
Work / Thermal Energy
After reviewing the answers and concepts on the Work Chapter Review, students took the Work & Machines Chapter Test (100 pts). They began and completed the Thermal Energy Voc. (46 pt) for homework. They were reminded to wear tennis shoes for the Power Lab on tomorrow.
