Chemical Bonding
Students continued the notes from the PowerPoint on the characteristics of ionic compounds, how to determine the charge on ions of metals/nonmetals and the rules for naming Ionic Compounds. Then, the students completed the "Valence Clues" WS (40 pts) and the "Naming Ionic Compounds" WS (50 pts).
Chemical Bonding
Students completed the "Compounds" Review Questions (60 pts) in class. We then began the PowerPoint and notes on Chemical Bonding to explain what chemical bonding is and how it is needed for atoms on the Periodic Table.
Elements & their Properties
Students reviewed the Chapter Review for the Elements & Properties chapter. Then, we took the Elements and Properties Chapter Test (100 pts). After the test, they began their Chemical Bonding Vocabulary (30 pts) which was for homework.
Elements & their Properties
Students took the "Elements & Their Properties" Vocabulary Test (36 pts). Then, they completed the "Elements & their Properties" Ch. Rev. (76 pts). They will have the "Elements & their Properties" Ch. Test on tomorrow.
Elements & Periodic Table
Students learned how to compare/contrast w/reasoning in the preview. Then, they were given a Periodic Table Relationships WS (40 pts) and the Elements and Periodic Table Seek-n-Find (40 pts) to review for the Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Thursday.
Elements & the Periodic Table
Students completed the PowerPoint on the Elements & the Periodic Table covering Groups 14-16 and their uses. Then, they began the Elements & the Periodic Table Lecture WS (100 pt) and Crossword Puzzle (40 pts). They will be having an Elements & the Periodic Table Voc. Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Friday.
Elements & the Periodic Table
We continued using the PowerPoint to show the characteristics of metalloids, the uses of the elements in Groups 14-16, and 18. Also, it was emphasized to study the uses of the elements that we've covered as well as the characteristics of metals and nonmetals and group characteristics. The test will be next week on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Elements & the Periodic Table
We continued going over the characteristics of the groups of the Periodic Table. We specifically went over characteristics of the nonmetals, Group 13 elements and their uses and Groups 14-16. Students were advised to review the elements discussed earlier and their uses as well 17-18.
Elements & the Periodic Table
Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint and discussion on the uses of elements in the Groups 3-12 and properties of the lanthanides and actinides.
