Elements & Their Properties
Students took notes from the PowerPoint on "Elements & Their Properties". We learned the 3 major types of elements on the Periodic Table, characteristics of metals, where the metals/nonmetals/metalloids are located on the Periodic Table and Group Names/Characteristics.
Elements & their Properties
Students completed the Elements and the Periodic Table Review Questions (60 pts) in class.
Atoms & the Periodic Table / Elements and their Properties
Students took the Atoms and the Periodic Table Chapter Test (100 pts), then began the "Elements and their Properties" Vocabulary (32 pts). If they did not finish the Vocabulary, it was due for homework tomorrow.
Atoms & the Periodic Table
Students completed the Atoms and the Periodic Table Chapter Review (62 pts) in class and took the Voc. Test in class also. They will have the Atoms and the Periodic Table Chapter Test (100 pts) on tomorrow. Study! Study! Study to show thyself approved!!!
Atoms & the Periodic Table
Students completed the Atoms & the Periodic Table Seek-n-Find (40 pts) in class. They will have the Atoms & Periodic Table Voc. Test on Monday when they return and Chapter Test on the same material the next day.
Metals, Nonmetals, & Metalloids
Students learning how to locate metals, nonmetals and metalloids on the Periodic Table. They also learned the characteristics of each of them on the Periodic Table. We finished class learning how to write electron dot models for the elements and completing an Electron Dot Model WS ( 40 pts). A Atoms and the Periodic Table crossword puzzle (40 pts) was assigned for homework.
Electron Configuration
Students learned how to determine the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons in an atom. They also learned how to draw atoms and put the correct number of parts in each atom. The relationships between group number and valence electrons and period/energy levels was emphasized. We concluded class w/the Atomic Structure 2 WS (21 pts).
Atomic #, Mass#, Atomic Mass
Students learned how to determine atomic number, mass number and atomic mass using the Periodic Table. We also reviewed the scientists responsible for the atomic theory. We concluded class on learning how to determine the number of protons, electrons and neutrons in an atom. The Atomic Structure WS (47 pts) was finished in class.
Atomic Scientists and the Periodic Table
Students had a poptest (Bronze) grade on the scientists who developed the Atomic Theory and began notes on the parts of an atom, their location and charges.
